Formula Renault BARC is the perfect entry-level category in which to begin a career in single-seater racing, requiring approximately half the budget needed to race in its British Touring Car Championship supporting stablemate Formula Renault UK.

The 2006 champion Richard Singleton and vice-champion Jordan Oakes affirmed that link as both progressed to race in the 2007 Formula Renault UK Championship. Singleton finished seventh in the drivers’ standings and went on to win the 2007 Formula Renault UK Winter Cup.

Formula Renault BARC is very cost-effective for young aspiring drivers, with a competitive car able to be run by a privateer in the FR2000 Class for as little as £20,000. The budgets to run with a professional team in FR2000 Class start as low as £40,000, depending upon the testing programme. In Club Class, many cars are run for under £10,000.

The low-cost series, which uses identical chassis to the Formula Renault UK Championship, attracted capacity grids at a majority of rounds in 2007 and is set to continue in a similar vein as it enters its fourth year under the guidance of Renault Sport UK.
