Biography

  • Paul is by far the most experienced racer in UK Clio Cup history - starting the 2017 season he has already amassed 184 races! It means his 200th should be at Silverstone's penultimate rounds in September...
  • He won his first ever race in the championship 2001 (only 2 other drivers have achieved this).
  • 22 is his lucky number - it was his race number when he won each of his three crowns. He also points out that both Lewis Hamilton and Jenson won their first F1 titles (2008, 2009) using no.22
  • In addition to three titles his achievements also include 46 wins, 42 further podium results, 35 pole positions and 33 fastest laps.
  • He is the only driver to have won UK Clio Cup races at every circuit on the calendar.

Won on his debut in 2001 (Brands Hatch GP). 4th overall that year plus Winterseries title; CHAMPION 2002 (also contested FRenault Winterseries); Clio Cup Winterseries CHAMPION 2003; Clio Cup CHAMPION 2004; Runner-up 2006 & 2008; CHAMPION 2011; Runner-up 2012; 3rd 2013; 7th 2014 with new WDE Motorsport team, followed up by 4th in 2015. 4th again in 2016 in which he achieved the 45th and 46th wins of his career and also surpassed 100 podium results. Note only part-seasons 2003, 05, 07 & 2010. Paul also won an off-shore jet-ski racing title (P1 AquaX ‘See Doo’) in 2012!
