Hi guys I am considering a car to purchase

The Renault Megane Cup 275 S is the model fitted with Ohlins suspension and akropovic exhaust

The car is a 2016 model and only covered 6000 miles

The alternative is a Golf Gti clubsport S

Firstly what should I be paying for the Renault approx as I have no experience of Renault RS cars and not sure on values ?

Also there is a considerable price jump to get the Golf and I was wondering whether it is worth it ?

I watched a recent video of the 2 cars battling on track from Evo and they looked pretty close

Any thoughts appreciated

Sounds a brilliant spec GO FOR IT you will not be disappointed.
Now on my 7th year in them and just tested the Golf R and new Civic typr R. Yes lovely cars but mine does it all and for a lot less and it WAS top of the Autocar TOP 5 list of hot hatches above the T R and Golf R.

Cheers Andy

Both great cars, maybe the last of the 'great' hot hatches.

Don't think you will go wrong with either but you are going to pay a great deal more for the Club S which is really more in line with the Trophy R.

Nice position to be in, if it was me and you can afford the Club S I would hunt around for a really nice non molested Trophy R.

Good luck you cant go wrong whatever you choose.

Looks a really nicely specced car, personally I wouldn't want to be paying much more than £20k though.

The Trophy R is likely to set you high back £20's but you will hopefully be rewarded with rock solid residuals.

The Trophy R is the 'top dog' and is more akin to the Clubsport S.

There was only 30 in the UK.

Just google 275 Trophy-R but basically they're a stripped out Trophy. They had a few performance options available on them so hard to do a generic comparison.

No rear seats, sportier and lighter front seats (Recaro Pole Position), full Alcantara interior, comes with Akrapovic, Ohlins and Michelin PS Cup 2 tires (on 19" rims) as standard, no radio, sat nav or air conditioning as standard (all could have been added when ordering) for a total weight saving of 100 kg over Trophy, Trophy-R exterior styling, optional performance brakes, 6-point harness and 6kg Li-Ion battery...

Great spec, but I would check what is under that bonnet wrap before buying.

Personally I would go for the club sport S as I prefer the looks but you can’t go wrong with either car.

Megane looks like the right spec, in a rare colour.

Golf will cost more but hold that cost better.

Drive both is the best advice.
