Hottest Clio tops poll
It was a difficult question to answer, but Renaultsport forum members - after much debate - voted the mad mid-engined phase Clio Renaultsport V6 225 as the best hot Clio ever.
Winning the poll to find the nation's favourite Renaultsport Clio is a fitting send-off for the V6, which has just gone out of production. Just three more Clio Renaultsport V6 255s are coming to the UK and you can check the latest availability of all Renaultsport cars at www.renaultsport.co.uk/roadcars.
It seems Renaultsport fans are a power-mad bunch, with the Clio V6 255 taking 26 per cent of votes in our poll, despite being a low-volume specialist sports car.
Its sensational 3.0-litre V6 engine won a lot of hearts and votes, along with the mid-engined hatchback's supercar looks, complete with wide wheelarches and gulping side air intakes.
Debate on the forum stretched to three pages, with members posting reasons for their vote.
Forum member David Fairweather, from Loughton, Essex, posted: "The V6 is a real head turner."
"Renault should be congratulated for having the bottle to manufacture this 4-wheel miracle," added Mike Easley from Telford.
Although his favourite was the Clio Renaultsport 182 (with Cup suspension), Jatinder Brainch, from Wolverhampton, won our competition for the best submission supporting his choice. He penned a poem on the Clio Williams II he owned between 1994 and 1998, and the 182 he bought last year:
"...It does everything the Williams did,
But just that bit quicker,
For me it makes it even SLICKER."
Jatinder's prize is a MotorSport Vision Race Master driving day at Oulton Park, where he will get to put one of MSV's Clio Renaultsport 182s through its paces.
"It'll be great to see how good the 182 is in the hands of the instructors, as well as have the chance to give it a thrashing on the track!" he said.
