Renault Sport UK Race Calendar Finalised

Rockingham Motor Speedway is the final circuit to be added to the 2007 race calendar for the Formula Renault UK with Michelin Championship and ELF Renault Clio Cup. As the second race meeting of the season, following the curtain-raiser at Brands Hatch, rounds three and four of both championships will be held at the Northamptonshire venue on 21st/22nd April. The circuit configuration to be used has not yet been decided.

The visit will mark the return of Formula Renault UK and Clio Cup to the circuit for the first time since 2003. The track holds special interest as the venue where Lewis Hamilton made his car racing debut at the age of 16 in the 2001 Formula Renault UK Winter Championship. Lewis, the latest driver to join a Formula One team after starting his career in Formula Renault UK, dominated the 2003 Formula Renault UK Championship race at the same venue, winning by almost eight seconds.

All venues have now been announced for the 2007 season, although official confirmation is still awaited as to which circuit configuration will be used at Brands Hatch, Oulton Park and the BTCC-supporting races at Donington Park. Races in support of the World Series by Renault, the biggest meeting of the year, will be held on the Grand Prix circuit.
