New Clio Renaultsport 197 unveiled today
New Clio Renaultsport 197 has just been officially unveiled this afternoon in Geneva by Patrick Pelata, Renault’s Executive Vice President, Plan, Product Planning and Programmes – and Renaultsport members are among the first in the world to see and read about the stunning new model.
A worthy successor to Clio Renaultsport 182, New Clio Renaultsport 197 puts the accent firmly on performance, passion and driving pleasure. The 2.0 16V VVT engine produces a staggering 197 bhp, Formula One technology is incorporated to deliver aerodynamic rear downforce and a host of safety features ensure comfortable, carefree driving.
The design of the standard New Clio has been enhanced with more aggressive features. The wider front and rear wings, lowered stance and profiled side skirts combine with the extractor vents and revolutionary rear diffuser to highlight both the modern engineering and sports heritage influences of the car.
Inside the car, the ‘drive it’ spirit is immediately apparent in details such as the aluminium foot pedals and perforated leather steering wheel. This enables drivers to enjoy the new six-speed manual gearbox, which will push the car from 0-62mph in a mere 6.9 seconds.
New Clio Renaultsport 197 aims to continue the success story of the dedicated Dieppe factory, which has produced flagship Clio Renaultsport cars since the launch of the first Clio Renaultsport 2.0 16V in 1999. Since then, more than 37,500 Clio Renaultsport models have been sold in western Europe, with more than 35% of those registered in the UK.
