Wait almost over for new Mégane Renaultsport Phase 2

Renaultsport's latest technology will be hitting Renault dealerships next month when New Mégane Phase 2 goes on sale, aiming to emulate the success of its eye-catching predecessor, which was launched in May 2004.

Changes to the range are subtle with many of the original features that wowed fans on its initial launch retained. The engine has been revised, but performance is unchanged with a 2.0 16V Turbo unit producing 225hp, giving a top speed of 147mph and pushing the car from 0-62mph in less than 6.5 seconds.

Instead, drivers will be treated to an enriched equipment package on existing models and an extra special edition Formula One version to celebrate Renault's Formula 1 Constructors' and Drivers' World Championship success in 2005.

New Mégane Renaultsport Cup, only available as a three-door hatch at £18,600, gets a striking new blue/black Scotec cloth interior but boasts the Cup Chassis to give a fuller, sportier driving experience. The package includes 18" lightweight anthracite alloys, uprated front and rear spring rates, re-tuned front and rear damper settings and drilled front and rear brake discs.

New Mégane Renaultsport 225 offers superb value for money at £19,500, featuring a brand new full leather interior, climate control, single CD/MP3 compatible RDS radio, electric folding mirrors and metallic paint. Drivers craving the thrills provided by the Cup Chassis can select it as an option.

The special edition New Mégane Renaultsport 225 Renault F1 Team is based on the Cup version but with significant additions. Recaro seats in blue/black Scotec cloth make their debut in the Mégane range while references to the Championship winning Renault team come in the form of a numbered Renault F1 team plaque and Renault F1 detailing on front and rear bumpers.

From a design perspective, the distinctive side-on silhouette is still evident, while the front has been given a more aggressive, dynamic styling. The front grille has a more pronounced 'V' and double ellipsoidal headlamps deliver a slimmer overall look.
