Renault Sport community turns out in force at Brands Hatch UK Clio Cup finale

Brands Hatch’s recent final rounds of the Renault UK Clio Cup proved the perfect backdrop for the thriving Renault Sport community to hold one of its national meets in 2016 and it didn’t disappoint as a stunning line-up of models turned out for the event.

More than 60 owners attended the event in their ‘pride and joy’ – one from as far away as Glasgow (an 850-mile round trip)!

All received admission to the event as part of a bumper ticket competition arranged by Renault Sport UK…

Clio Renault Sport models on display included 172s, 182s, 197s, 200s, 200Ts and Trophies plus several examples of the jaw-droppingly gorgeous mid-engined Clio V6s from the late 90s/early 2000s.

Mégane 225s, F1 R26s, 250s, 265s and 275 Trophies as well as Twingo 133s added to the mouth-watering display.

A rare and immaculate Renault 5 Gordini also proved a highly popular draw for many of the huge numbers of motor sporting enthusiasts who attended the event.

Stevie Cunningham, from the Renault Sport UK Owners Club, commented: “It was great to be a part of the team organising this event for Renault Sport owners and the feedback from them has been terrific.

“What a great turn-out we had with over 60 cars on show and the fact that some travelled such great distances speaks volumes about the appeal of such a weekend.

“Being allocated a dedicated parking area also helped draw lots of attention from the public and gave the owners a chance to catch up en route before heading into Brands Hatch.

“We would like to say thank you to Renault Sport UK for running the competition – our owners were able to see the UK Clio Cup title decided in very dramatic circumstances and also get a great insight into the championship and cars thanks to being invited into the special VIP drivers’ Q&A session and the open paddock policy which allows the public to look around the race teams in the paddock.”

Jeremy Townsend, Communications Director for Renault UK, said: “What an evocative sight the Renault Sport community helped to create at Brands Hatch – it was wonderful seeing so many models together, each of them really well kept, ranging right back to the late Seventies and further underlined the passion that runs through the Renault Sport brand.

“We look forward hopefully to arranging a similar meet at a UK Clio Cup race weekend in 2017 and of course seeing many of the owners driving their cars on an open circuit at our exclusive Renault Sport track days.”
