Driver Daniel Rowbottom (Kidderminster) was able to use the unexpectedly highly high temperatures to his advantage and get through plenty of set-up work with his crew.

“It all went really well,” said the 26-year-old. “Our intention was to get the transmission and differential bedded in correctly and just give the car a good shakedown. We achieved this and more and in the limited dry running we had we were able to confirm a few ideas we had with the way the Clio Cup car works.

“We were only on old tyres but it was valuable nonetheless and to have 16-degree temperature one week to Christmas Eve was a real treat. The car performed faultlessly much to our delight, and it's clear that there is a lot of time in fine-tuning these cars.

“It is fantastic to drive and gives great feedback and, with the grid shaping up the way it is, 2016’s UK Clio Cup will be an awesome part of the BTCC’s events.

“I'd just like to say thanks to Renaultsport for putting together a fantastic package and I am so excited about getting our test plan in action in the New Year.”
