Whorton-Eales set a string of stunning laps to set an eventual best of one minute, 17.453s – 0.233s ahead of Team Pyro’s Mike Bushell in second (1m17.686s). WDE Motorsport’s Paul Rivett was a mere 0.010s adrift in third.
Finesse Motorsport’s Paul Streather, the pace-setter in this morning’s session, was fourth in session – just one of three out of the 24 drivers on track who failed to improve on his time from this morning. Using his morning time, however, he still wound up fourth overall behind Whorton-Eales, Bushell and Rivett.
Next up and causing quite a stir was WDE’s Rory Green who pipped current championship leader, Team Cooksport’s Lee Pattison, for fifth in session and overall. WDE drivers were on something of a rout as Charlie Ladell was seventh and Paul Plant (running under the joint Vanquish/WDE banner) eighth which went a long way to making up for an off this morning.
Pyro’s David Dickenson and Ciceley Motorsport’s top performer Max Coates completed the top ten in session but not outright – Coates dropping to 11th in the combined order behind JamSport’s Luke Kidsley whose morning’s best was just 0.009s better.
Of the other teams 20Ten Racing’s highest-placed driver was Sam Watkins in 15th, PP Motorsport was 16th with Anton Spires and Team Ecomotive with Finesse’s Daniel Rowbottom 20th – remarkably still within a second of the ultimate pace.
