Oulton’s track day followed similar events at Brands Hatch in Kent, Bedford Autodrome and the majestic Spa Francorchamps Formula 1 circuit in Belgium.
As ever the circuit was thrown open for owners of Renault’s sportier models from down the ages to put their prized possessions through their paces – and make a few pals along the way.
Some 65 cars were present at Oulton with a wide range of Clios on display, ranging from the early-Nineties 1.8 16V to the latest 220 Trophy. Méganes, meanwhile, spanned from the 230 R26 to today’s 275 Trophy-R.
A number of enthusiasts also took up the opportunity of flying passenger laps around Oulton’s famous sweeps and swoops – as raced on every year by the Renault UK Clio Cup and British Touring Car Championship – in a 2015 UK Clio Cup race car.
Jeremy Townsend, Renault UK’s Communications Director, commented: “Oulton Park proved a fitting venue to bring 2015’s Renaultsport’s trackdays to a close – a legendary circuit for the legendary Renaultsport badge.
“The turn-out was again exceptional – in fact we were sold out several weeks before the date – and the attention to detail that Renaultsport owners devote to their cars never fails to impress with some truly immaculate models on displays. It’s also been great to see so many of them comparing notes and exchanging stories about the cars they have owned.
“Our track days in 2015 have quite possibly been the most successful we’ve ever put together for the Renaultsport community. Certainly the feedback we’ve had from owners along the way has been nothing but positive with the odd constructive suggestion thrown in!
“We are currently working on 2016’s calendar when we aim to provide even more added value for enthusiasts. These dates should be out soon so we would encourage all Renaultsport owners to watch this space…”
