Pyro’s Bushell posted a best lap of one minute, 34.494 seconds to end the day 0.150s up on Cooksport's Lee Pattison who had to rely on the time he set to head this morning’s opening session.
Pattison therefore wound up second overall ahead of WDE’s Paul Rivett, also unable to improve on his morning’s best.
However there was a shake-up behind as, like Bushell, the majority of the drivers were able to go quicker in the afternoon.
Notably BMR-backed Senna Proctor and his Pyro team-mate Josh Price leapt up the order to end the day fourth and sixth fastest outright. Fifth, between them, was JamSport’s Ant Whorton-Eales who was unable to better his effort from earlier in the day…
Finesse’s Jake Giddings and his Ecomotive-backed team-mate Daniel Rowbottom also improved to wind up seventh and eighth. Fellow Finesse driver Paul Streather, though, slipped back to ninth as he continued to battle energy-sapping flu-like symptoms.
The next three up – Pyro’s David Dickenson, PP Motorsport’s Anton Spires and Ciceley’s Max Coates – also improved their times during the afternoon session, although not necessarily their overall position. While Spires, 13th this morning, moved up to 11th outright, Dickenson and Coates slipped from sixth and tenth to tenth and 12th respectively.
The 21-strong UK Clio Cup entry will next be on track at 10.55am tomorrow (Saturday) for the the half-hour qualifying session. That is followed by the first of two races this weekend at 4.00pm. Race two is on Sunday at 1.25pm.
