Ciceley team 'gelling nicely' ahead of debut Renault UK Clio Cup season

British Touring Car Championship ace Adam Morgan says his Ciceley Motorsport team’s preparations for its first season of competition in the Renault UK Clio Cup have started strongly with drivers Ollie Pidgley and Dan Zelos showing well in early testing.

The pair were last week on track at Thruxton, Hampshire and again at Silverstone, Northants in their Ciceley-prepared UK Clio Cup cars. Ciceley will dovetail its debut UK Clio Cup campaign with its BTCC programme at events during 2016…

Morgan, Ciceley's star BTCC driver, said: “Moving from rear-wheel-drive – which Dan and Ollie are both used to – to front-wheel-drive does take time as I found when I moved to the BTCC. From what we saw last week, I’d say they have both done really well – they’ve just got their heads down and got on with it.

“More importantly this was the first time everyone  in our UK Clio Cup team – drivers, engineers, mechanics – has got together and tested the cars in anger. Everything has gelled very quickly and I believe if we continue at this rate we will be right in the mix come the start of the start of the season.”

Pidgley added: “It’s all been about improving gradually, step by step. When we all sat down and analysed the data we can see it’s pretty encouraging so far. Every lap – in fact every corner – we keep learning more and more about these cars.

“Thruxton was a bit of a shock – I’m an instructor there but I think this was the first time I’ve ever gone around there in a ‘tin-top’ without anyone sitting next to me! Silverstone of course is fairly technical – there are really only three corners meaning each one becomes extra-critical and we seemed to be turning in good times.”
