It had already been confirmed that the Clio Cup Champion will receive a day’s assessment in leading touring car team Motorbase’s Ford Focus. Now that prize will also be offered to the runner-up in the Clio Cup’s 2015 drivers’ standings.
“It’s another exciting coup for the Renault UK Clio Cup,” said Championship Manager Will Fewkes. “To have both the Champion and Vice-Champion automatically receive tests with one of the leading teams in recent years in the British Touring Car Championship – where so many of the Clio Cup’s top names have gone on to succeed – adds even more kudos to being on our grid.
“With the drivers well aware of how much a touring car test can mean for their futures, our Finals Day at Brands Hatch in October could be quite something!
“This also of course further underlines Dunlop’s fantastic support for British motor sport and we are very proud to be working with such a credible and enthusiastic technical partner.”
Dunlop’s UK Motorsport Manager Mickey Butler commented: “There is some fantastic quality on the Clio Cup grid – just look at that first race at Brands Hatch! We are very excited to be able to offer this prize to both the top two drivers in 2015.
“Both drivers will receive star treatment on their big day from both Motorbase and Dunlop’s motor sport technicians. It is always very interesting working with future stars and even now we know that the two drivers who do win this prize will have to be real stand-out talents given how competitive the Clio Cup grid is…”
As previously announced the 2015 Renault UK Clio Cup Champion will also test Renaultsport’s sensational, European-based 500bhp R.S.0.1 sports/GT racer.
