Kent team WDE Motorsport was in action at its home circuit of Brands last Friday with Nicolas Hamilton as he got to grips for the first time in 2018 with his striking looking JET-sponsored Clio Cup race car.
It will be on the Indy configuration that Clio Cup season gets under way, on Sat 7/Sun 8 April – a weekend that also marks the start of the new British Touring Car Championship season.
Friday meanwhile signalled the end for a five-day test in Spain for Pyro.
Already confirmed drivers Daniel Rowbottom, in his distinctive Cataclean-sponsored car, and Bradley Burns tested at the Barcelona Formula 1 circuit in Spain before the team drove 250 miles south-west for more running at the Albacete track near Valencia.
Joining them was 2017 racer Jack McCarthy while Pyro’s 2015 Clio Cup title-winner Ashley Sutton – now the reigning British Touring Car Champion – also journeyed out in a driver-coach role.
Elsewhere, new team Matrix Motorsport has been on track with all four of its drivers – Michael Epps, Aaron Thompson, Andy Wilmot and Jeff Alden – running at a soggy Snetterton in late January.
The Derbyshire based squad will be hoping for better conditions when it next ventures out at Silverstone this coming Friday (16 Feb) when others are expected to join them.
