Rowbottom, Giddings, Field all return for Silverstone and Brands Hatch

After missing recent rounds, Daniel Rowbottom, Jake Giddings and Graham Field will all be back on the Renault UK Clio Cup grid for Silverstone’s and Brands Hatch’s final four races of the 2016 season.

Rowbottom contested the season’s opening five events – he memorably qualified on pole position for his debut race at Brands and by the time of his most recent appearance (at Croft) had also run in partnership with the Finesse Motorsport squad.

However he will now see out the rest of the season under his own DRM banner.

Rowbottom commented: “It’s unfortunate we weren’t out at Snetterton and Rockingham but, having re-grouped, I believe we can come back very strong. I am going to Silverstone and Brands very much with challenging for podiums and wins in mind.”

British GT4 champ Giddings meanwhile will re-appear for Finesse alongside team 'regular' Paul Streather. He raced in Thruxton’s and Oulton Park’s events but also has plenty of previous UK Clio Cup experience.

Finesse Team Principal Neil Giddings said: “It’s good to have two cars back out again – hopefully Jake can get up to speed pretty quickly and he and Paul can work together with the slipstream in qualifying to get as high up the grid as possible – that’s always a big consideration at Silverstone National.

“All of us want to be back on the podium, it’s the target every time we go out on track and that’s no different for Silverstone. Rockingham was a nightmare so we’re determined to put that to bed and get right back in the thick of the action at the front."

Significantly Field’s return (following a long break touring South America!) means a five-car entry for the first time for the JamSport team with title protagonist Ant Whorton-Eales, Luke Kidsley, Chris Smiley and George Jackson already part of its line-up.

The enthusiastic 57-year-old added: “I’m really hoping for my best showing of the year at Silverstone – I’ve had a nice break and feel refreshed and am ready to put into practice some of the great things I’ve learnt from Ant and Luke since the start of the season. There’s a certain lap time I’d love to get down to and hopefully that will put me in a position to give a couple of the young ‘uns a bit of a race.”
