Thompson has until now contested his debut UK Clio Cup season with the JamSport Racing team with which he won 2015’s Ford Fiesta Junior title. His best results are a pair of tenth place finishes at Croft and Snetterton although he did qualify as high as fourth at Oulton Park in May.
The 18-year-old commented: “I’ve still got a lot of love for JamSport – I’ve been with them for several years, they’ve been very supportive of me and I will always have great memories of us winning together.”
Thompson will join title protagonist Max Coates and Jade Edwards in the Ciceley line-up for 2017’s final two races around the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit.
Coates has won twice this season and is currently fourth in the standings with second overall still a possibility. Edwards will go to Brands Hatch off the back of her best result to date in her debut season – an eighth place at Silverstone.
Ciceley Team Manager and British Touring Car ace Adam Morgan said: “We’re delighted to have Aaron on board – his extremely enthusiastic approach fits perfectly with the commitment displayed by Max and Jade and, as a trio, they should work extremely well together.”
