A Renault-engined Red Bull Formula 1 car will be demonstrated for the crowds by up-and-coming British star Oliver Rowland who leads the Formula Renault 3.5 Championship for drivers targeting a seat in F1 (current Toro Rosso driver Carlos Sainz won the FR 3.5 title last year).
It will therefore be a busy weekend for Rowland with two 3.5 races to also complete as he seeks to extend the healthy points lead he has built up thanks to four wins from nine races. Both he and fellow Briton Dean Stoneman will surely be out for home glory. Significantly Rowland drives for the Fortec team which is based nearby Silverstone (its other driver, Malaysian Jazeman Jaafar is third in the standings). Similarly the Strakka squad (its workshop is just two miles from the circuit’s gates) has a strong pairing in Cypriot Tio Ellinas and Swede Gustav Malja.
Silverstone’s World Series by Renault event also includes the latest races for the Renault Sport Trophy – in other words for a grid of its sensational, new 550hp R.S 0.1 sports/GT racers – as well as its Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 category.
A Renaultsport ‘stunt show’ plus a specially created village offering side shows and entertainment will add further to the carnival atmosphere which makes each event a huge hit with the public – particularly families.
If booked by this Friday (14 Aug), tickets for World Series by Renault at Silverstone are priced just £12 per adult and only £6 for children aged 11-15. Admission for children aged 10 and under is FREE!
