Mégane Renaultsport is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine which boasts a power output of 250hp and a particularly broad rev range. 340Nm of torque is available from as low down as 3,000rpm to deliver a level of performance that can be enjoyed both on the road and on a track.
Mégane Renaultsport is available with a choice of two chassis:
- A standard chassis which delivers the ideal trade-off between sports performance and comfort in everyday use.
- A Cup chassis which combines with a limited slip differential to deliver outstanding on-track performance.
Mégane Renaultsport boasts two specific features aimed at heightening the enjoyment delivered by the vehicle's performance:
Renaultsport Dynamic Management: This enables one of three modes for the ESP to be selected: 'On' (the default mode), 'Sport' (for less intrusive ESP action) and 'Off' (complete disengagement).
Renaultsport Monitor: This technology takes its inspiration from the world of motor sport, with a central dashboard display that provides information about:
- the demands made of the main engine functions,
- real-time engine performance,
- gearchange warning,
- calibration and display of the throttle pedal mapping,
- lateral acceleration,
- 0-60 acceleration,
- laptimes
Mégane Renaultsport 265 Trophy
132.5 horsepower per litre says it all. Our engineers have drawn on all the experience acquired by Renaultsport at racetracks across the world to squeeze this performance out of a-2.0 litre turbo engine. For an even more dynamic drive, the Mégane Renaultsport 265 has a Cup chassis, lowered by 10 millimetres vs. the standard chassis , ensuring exceptional roadholding and outstanding traction.
Thanks to its powerful Brembo® brakes, the Mégane Renaultsport 265 Trophy stops just as quickly as it goes. With a Limited-slip differnential (LSD) ensuring optimum traction at all times, regardless of grip, driving style or the type of corner. This combined with the PerfoHub independent steering-axis front suspension minimises the effects of torque steer and allows the driver to benefit fully from the extra traction for a more reassuring drive.
The Mégane Renaultsport 265 Trophy is fitted with high-performance Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tyres in a 235/35 R19Y size – perfect for lovers of dynamic driving. The asymmetric tread pattern was inspired by the Bridgestone Potenza tyres used in Formula One racing. The outer part of the tread is similar to racing ‘slicks’, while the inner section is modelled on F1 wet-weather tyres. The result is a level of control that is without equal.
With its Recaro seats bridging the gap perfectly between racing seats and standard seats, the driver has the lateral support and precise adjustment mechanisms you’d expect in a track car, combined with the practicality and safety required for everyday use.
The fitment of the Renaultsport Monitor as standard, backs up the feeling of this being a serious and sensational driving experience. And if you seriously quick, you may be fortunate enough to join the precious few who will get to savour it to the full. Only 50 Mégane Renaultsport 265 Trophy are destined for the UK, so this car will be exclusive as well as desirable.
All purchasers of a Mégane Renaultsport 265 Trophy will get free access to all the Renaultsport organized Track Days in the UK in 2012, please see www.renaultsport.co.uk/roadcars/trackdays for full details and information.
On Friday 17th June 2011, a Mégane Renaultsport 265 Trophy driven by Laurent Hurgon (Renaultsport development driver) broke the lap record for a Front Wheel Drive production car around the legendary Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit in Germany. The time of 8 minutes 07.97 seconds was nearly 10 seconds faster than the previous record – set by a Mégane Renaultsport R26.R in 2008.
