Pit time

Hi, I am team manager of a team in the Trackday Championship racing a Clio. The rules if the Championship include a mandatory 2 minute pit stop to change drivers during a 45 minute race. We are supplied with details of the length of the pit lane and the time it takes from entry to exit of the pit lane at 40mph, unfortunately we do not know which pit garage we can stop in front of to change drivers so it is difficult to accurately calculate how long it will take to travel from pit stop point to pit exit without exceeding the 2 minute minimum time in the pit lane or indeed leaving the pit lane early and getting a penalty. Question is-: is there an algorithm that will give me this info so as to avoid a penalty but not spend longer than exactly 2 minutes in the pits.

Pit time

Hello Dave, The best way to manage your challenge will be to add a manual timer to the dashboard of the car - or to get the driver to call when they enter the pits. From this you will be able to determine how long they need to be stationary to avoid a penalty. Any calculation will be an estimate and still leave you exposed to human error - whereas if you have a timer the driver can slow down as they approach the pit exit. Kind regards,

Big help needed

Hi, we bought a Renault Clio RS 18 F1 limited edition and need a new part. I just want to know does Renault Head Office Contact Renault France every time for an answer if they have a question and when they do, is it true that Renault France can take 72 hours each time to give an answer to what part number it is for example? I tried to join the forum but we are from South Africa even though we do have family in Edinburgh

Wheel and offset

Hi Alan, I have a stripped out track Megane RS mk3 running an array of track mods. I have just ordered a new set of wheels & tyres from Demon Tweaks and although they have told me that the car will have no issues with the new size wheels I am unsure! I currently run the standard 18” x 8.25” ET65 RS wheels with 235 x 40 x18 track tyres, the car is fitted with KW Clubsports and is lowered within the parameters stated by KW, the car is also running approx -3 dog camber at the front and -2deg to the rear. The new wheels are Team Dynamics Pro race 1.3 18” x 8.5” ET 45, I have worked it out if I’m correct that the new wheels will sit approx 23.5mm further out towards the arch than the standard wheel. I appreciate that this will to a certain extent put more pressure on bearings etc and it will probably make the steering slightly heavier but I’m hoping that that is the only issues and that the car should Corner better and should stay flatter through the bends owing to the extra width? Please could you comment and give me your advice. Many thanks, Regards, Nick

Wheel and offset

Hello Nick, Some reasonable changes there. It's hard to predict whether the new wheels will cause the tyres to foul the bodywork. If they do i suspect you might have to roll the inside edge of your bodywork to create greater clearance. Best wishes,
