1999 Renault Megane 2.0 RXE

I have an old Megane with the F3R motor, I would like to know more about the valvetrain and ticking noises coming from the motor, it has noticeably less power below 4000 RPM and has a ticking noise at all temps that match engine rpm in timing as well. The tapping isnt as loud when you're not accelerating though.

Megane RS 250 Cup differential fault

2010 model Megane 250 Cup, has done 56,000 miles. I heard a slight whining noise changing consistently with road speed, not engine speed. Main dealer mechanic had car on the ramp, and we heard a "clicking" from the front wheels when turned by hand. I am told this is a sign of a failed or failing differential, requiring a new gearbox. Car has not been abused! Is this likely to be correct and a not unknown fault, or am I just unlucky?

197 misfire

Hello Matt, It's quite difficult to have a strong opinion on a misfire from a distance - however i always use a standard approach: 1. Is the misfire constant? If yes it could be mechanical. If no, is it temperature or load related 2. Do you get any engine warning lamps? 3. Do you get any indication from the exhaust about unburnt fuel? A trip to someone who can operate some diagnostic equipment is sometimes the best option. Kind regards,
