Images should now resize correctly when uploaded to the forum. If you're still experiencing difficulties, please post details here. Thanks.

Looked into that dayc - it seems the resize function was only invoked if you use the "insert image" button and that those images were added using the img tags. Its now been rewritten so that the resizer works regardless of how the image is inserted - so hopefully should be ok now. Thanks

Odd as the source http displays a correctly proportioned image, as does if I post it. Browser issue? Edited by user 09 February 2011 22:32:47(UTC)

That really is odd. I just tried again in Internet Explorer (usually always use Firefox) and it is still stretched. Can't see why you'd be able to link to the same picture as me and have it displayed correctly!

Out of interest, what is the ?id=651 bit on the picture you pasted that's not on mine, and where does this come from? Seems to be the issue... http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4104/5431902858_e2bdd1be78_b.jpg?id=651

The id is only referencing the location of the photo I believe; I got the img tag http from right clicking and "copy image location". I added nothing that the original photos source provided. All a bit odd really as you've tried difference browsers - maybe there's an update for them with a patch?

This would have to be quite strange to be a browser issue - @mattk have you tried Quoting Al's post with the image in and posting that? If that displays correctly then it could be that you're adding images differently somehow.

I was only going on that there was (and still is I believe) an issue with different browsers causing some links to other sites to be selectable and others that just become plain text, even though both are c and p-ed.

The incorrectly sized pics are been specified as that size in the html. Edited by user 10 February 2011 20:04:57(UTC)

If you use the image insert it should allow you to resize to anything you want

Quoting Al's post worked - I add images using the image button and then just paste in the image URL. Will try another now, bet it will stretch!

Just done the above using the right-click and 'Copy Image Location' method, and still stretches!!! Think I will just post links to my albums in future, much easier! grr!

I've been having a bit of a play with this, and it appears that the behavior of the "insert image" field varies quite wildly across platforms, with regards to the content that actually appears in the rich text editor - (wont bore you with the more techie functional stuff).
@mattk the easiest way around this for you that I've found would be to just type in the custom image tag braces. In the case of this forums' setup it you can simply type img in square brackets - [ ] - infront of your link and /img in square brackets behind your link. i.e. [*img*]http://www.someimageurl.com/img.jpg[*/img*] but without the asterisks. (had to put them in so this post doesn't go off looking for an image.)
This also seems to be very pliable as to adding in your own image attributes, so if you want to set a specific width and height you can write [*img width='510px' height='100px'*]...url...[*/img*]

Thanks DrDrew - the [*img] method does indeed work and I shall use that from now on! Really odd behaviour from the image button. Just glad it works, shall now post some piccies! Cheers Matt

I believe if all works correctly it should initially appear large, and then be resized (by javascript) on page load. The on page resizing doesn't always show in preview modes, and depending on various factors javascript CAN mess up occasionally.
