Hi All
I'm currently driving a '10 RS250 Cup and have pretty much loved every second of the past 2.5 years of owning it; it's been a joy to drive and with my PCP agreement up in December, am starting to feel a touch sad that I will be saying goodbye to the beast.
But now I don't know what to do for my next car; do I stick with the Renault and potentially get an rs265 .. or maybe an rs275 but not sure the budget stretches or the time scales fit for that or go for something different. Couple of questions if I may on these:
1. Would I see much difference between my rs250 and the two newer cars? I know they have a few extra BHP but surely not enough to really feel it?
2. Probably not the best non biased forum to ask but I just don't see anything in the rivals at this price range and I guess that is what also is making me think another RS may be the best bet. I thought about a Focus ST for a while but decided there is no point as I think it may feel like a downgrade and also though maybe a 135i Coupe (I do'nt like the shape of the non coupe) which still might get the go ahead ... but there just isn't anything else out there :( Unless anyone can think of anything else?
I'm popping into my local Renault dealer on the weekend to start talks but would be good to get some information to take with me.

My advice is stick with RS and try and stretch to a 275 Trophy.

Get a 2nd hand 250/265 on finance not lease and then you won't ever have to give it back!

Yeah but I like the fact I get a new car every 2 - 3 years and it's covered by a warranty for the entire length that I have it; it's just nice reassurance ... having had a an entire engine replacement on a Pug GTi ... now that wasnt fun lol!

Tom The power difference is slightly noticeable between the 250/265 Go for something different, I don't think you are getting a different car in the 265/275 from the 250 IMO

If you like the car id try the 275 trophy however their are some good deals on the golf r on pcp if you want to try something different

If you really fancy a change and can't escape the PCP black hole then have a think about the 208 Gti 30 Anniversary. Going to be a hot little number, LSD, Brembo brakes, lowered, light, 210 bhp. If you can afford it get the 275, if you talk very nice to Matt@renaultwolves am sure he would be happy to put some figures together for you.

What is all this talk about pcp and it's a bad idea.
For a minute I thought I was on the money supermarket forum and not a site designed for people who love cars? Who cares how people choose to pay for their car? If they have the disposable income and know what their getting into then id rather answer the question the op has asked and not give finance advice.

Depends what you're after. If you're after the same as you've got now then surely the simple answer would be a 275 trophy. If you think after 3 years you fancy a bit of variation then you'd probably need to look at another make but what if going to make the set up to be better than the Megane for what you want it for.

Probably not a good idea to stir it up then. I agree with you that it does not matter how you get hold of a car but threads like this will only stir the argument up even further.

golf r. cheap as chips. nothing compares for low cost pcp. works out cheaper than a leon cupra 280. go figure.

Given the Golf R is so relatively cheap, where does that leave the GTi these days? For its class its power output seems yesteryear and the R would appear only a small financial step ahead....

Can't comment about a Golf R, but its sister car the S3 is as dull as dishwater.
Don't think there's a huge amount of difference between them........
275 remains the best driving hot hatch out there, so that would get my vote especially if you like the 250.
I've had 4 cars since my 250 and none have come close to the drive of that car.

I'm currently driving a '10 RS250 Cup and have pretty much loved every second of the past 2.5 years of owning it same here! i have a 10 plate 250 and ready for a change, have phoned 4 garages about the 275 as i would see this as a natural replacement. only one garage has returned my enquiry and he priced my 250 £3500 below what garages are asking for them on the forecourt! needless to say iam disapointed, and coming to the conclusion dealers are only interested in selling 1.2 Clios etc etc. so thats 3 garages who are that busy they cant return a call, Renault must be that busy they cant keep up with demand! hope you have better luck than me, not that the 250 is a bad car, in fact its that good i might have to keep and RENAULT WILL MISS ANOTHER 275 SALE! It's probably 0.9 tCE Clio now It's a shame that the others haven't replied though. Depends where you are and how far you want to travel but you could always give our sales team a call and I'm sure they would be glad to help you
