However, it looks incredibly boring.. That' one of the things that is making me um and ah about it; it just doesn't look that much different from the standard FR version (especially from the front). Haha going full circle at this rate!! a golf r works out cheaper than a leon on pcp. you'd have to be mad to buy the seat. Does it? From new? or the older R model? I have a quote on a 280 for £390 a month for 3 years PCP, 12000 miles Can I ask what deposit you have to put down TeaJay?

For the quote purposes, pretty much nothing ... just the offset of the rs250's value (that I currently have) against what I have left to pay ... probably less than a grand.
That R quote though looks interesting ... but think the deposit is quite a bit.

That R quote though looks interesting ... but think the deposit is quite a bit. I would stick with Renault in that case as they are more likely to give you a better price for your trade in (I would hope ) Try giving Jaybee a go in Banbury as they have always looked after me with a good deal. I think Dan on here works for them maybe he can be pro active and get you a deal. The 275 Trophy is what I would get, it will knock spots off any of the VAG products imo. Good luck.

PCP fits my needs and life style perfectly; as I said, I get a new car every few years, have the peace of mind of a warranty constantly and the fact it may be a bit more money in the long run doesn't really bother me. I've been paying for a car lump sum since I was 18 and I am now 32. I don't see the money, it just pays for a luxury I love .. just like my Sky TV Anyway, onto the car advise. I have thought about the Golf R and may go down that route. I guess the problem I am having is a) I love my my RS .. its just getting to the point in its life where things are going to start to need to be replaced = don't want to go down that route again but I dont actually want to get rid of it; so a direct replacement for an 265 / 275 seems logical and b) its the class leader, anything else just seems like a compromise. I have looked at bigger coupes; the S4, S5 and 335i as well but none of them i think would suit me, so I end up falling back into the hot hatch trap and ending on the Megane again. I guess I will see what my local Renault dealer says on the weekend and also pop down to my BWM one regarding a 135i Coupe and see what that turns up and then bounce next door to the VW and see what deals I might be able to get on a Golf R. Thanks again guys :) Tom Stick with 250/get a temp A to B for another year and at the end, see if the new CTR tickles ur fancy.. Edited by user 12 September 2014 11:55:54(UTC)

The Golf R.....
Seen more than Megs...
Yes, financially make a lot of sense. Yes, rapid (for real world driving) Yes, practical.
BUT, honestly having seen a fare few...they look disappointingly 'normal' I mean really apart from exhaust not much of a difference to gti/gtd.
Just don't stand out enough.

Just don't stand out enough. You know what, I think you're right. I've even seen some and thought 'what a loser putting an R badge on the front, oh hang on...'. Great if you want a stealth car, not for me though

Not gone for the 275 or didn't fancy recaros? 275 was just too expensive and couldn't get it any lower and I would of loved the recaros (have them now in my 250) but again took it just out of reach .... so it was them or the alloys, and I don't like the standard ones. I have a really good deal though and with very little cash deposit and only my 250 to give, think i've done pretty well

They'll be none the wiser What sort of numbers were being quoted for the 275 over the 265 out of interest?

The 275 comes loaded with goodies already like the exhaust and Recaros and I suspect if you can get someone to do a deal you will reap far better rewards come resale as the 275 Trophy (not counting the R) is going to be the one people are after. Have you given Jaybee a go in Banbury, if not I would suggest sending Dan on here a PM.
