it's looking like F1 is going to be on channel 4 next year, I hope it isn't going to be like it was on ITV ads every 10 minutes.

Shame as the Suzi & Co lineup had started to work well like Jake did especially on the 'Red Button Forum'. Always watched the BBC coverage over Sky when they had the Live races. Read somewhere that DC might part own or have something to do with the production company C4 will use for F1 so I'd guess he'll be back?

This is my opinion, that the public get football shoved in their faces so much that they get brain washed in to liking it so it becomes the UK number one sport. If the BBC needs to cut expenditure they should cut back on the multitude of dab radio stations and a TV channel like BBC4 which only broadcasts for 7 hours a day.

C4's programming is innovative in the main so this could be good news

I hope not - I really like BBC 4 and the DAB channels such as Radio 6 Music. I bet they are pretty cheap too. Easiest cost saving would be to get rid of the football.

You imagine the uproar if football got dropped, there would be a parliamentary inquiry in to the reason why that in itself would cost £200 mil, motorsport is a disposable viewing regarding people who watch. Some will say subscribe to satellite but why pay a licence fee and then subscription, it's one or the other but not both. I do hope C4 will do it justice unlike the current half hour slots they give motorsport at present.

All they have is highlights on match of the day.

That's OK then 😊 But they still pay out for something where with motorsport it is zip, zero, nothing for tv viewing. Time will tell.

The only thing we will have to wait and see if this "free to view" channel will appear on the next generation freeview platform or on Sky only a part of a over priced package. Unfortunately motorsport on terrestrial Tv is like a Easter egg hunt, once you find it the product is fairly good but it doesn't last long. We'll wait and see.

Sticking sport behind pay walls isn't just for F1.
Clearly it's money driven but the loss for sponsor revenue to the teams must be substantial.
Taking viewership from around 10 million (BBC/ITV days) to 1 million (SKY) just sucks, for the fans, the teams, the drivers.
