Apparently this has nothing to with Renault.

https://www.renault.co.uk/services/warranty-and-insurance/extended-warranty.html

Couple of months before my 4 year warranty ran out I receved a letter from the above offering to extend my warranty for another year for £349. Everything comes Renault headed and looks like it is from Renault UK.

So when you get a fault you expect to take it to your local Renaultsport dealer and get it fixed, how wrong was I!

First off it doesn't pay for finding the fault at all so you have to pay for it.

Local dealer has lost it's Renaultsport status so after having the car for a week and not finding the fault they came out with that little gem. Still has the Renaultsport badge up outside as well!

So after not having my car for a total of 11 days due to the above causing damage to the exterior and been out of pocket for £330 I now know what the fault is thanks to K-Tech Racing.

Phoned them up and now they want to send a expert to view the faulty suspension hub assembly which I do not have a problem with but they will only do it at the repairing garage which has a lead time of 3 weeks for a appointment. So 6 more weeks until it can be fixed and another 2 days off work plus a tank of fuel on top to pay for.

Wished I hadn't of bothered taking it out and just paid for it myselfDisapprove

How very strange and I'm wondering if this is another difference between UK & DE as I don't think I've misunderstood anything here.

Basically as I went through the sales cycle the 4y warranty was sold to me as a Renault product, I have it in th cotract as such.
In addition when I went to have my winter tyres fitted I was greeted and looked after by a service manager at Renault HQ in Munich and he gave me some paperwork and details about the warranty, telling me clearly if I had any problems then I should deal with him personally.

Then a week or so later I received a credit card style card from Renault which has the details of my warranty as a full EU one and I can use any EU Renault dealer for any of the services or if I get any problems that need looking at.

I'll check through all the contract details in the next few days to double check now .....

The first 4 year warranty is with Renault, the extension isn't. Totally misled from start to finish and therefore mis-sold methinks.

Extended warranty sounds more like insurance. My understanding is that a warranty is effectively a manufacturer saying xyz parts have been manufactured to withstand, and should in normal circumstances last for, driving over the period of the warranty. Therefore an extended warranty seems to be a company risking that those parts are a little more durable than the manufacturer states and taking money from you in the hope that you don't come in to get them replaced.

The other thing about extended warranty over standard warranty are the number of things that aren't included.

Have a read of the link in the first post from Renault UK's website. It look's like you are adding another year onto your 4 year warranty direct with Renault. All the paperwork look's like it comes from Renault, they answer the phone as Renault, go to make a claim and you then find out they are called Car Care Plan and have no knowledge of known Renault fault's.

If I had known it wasn't with Renault I wouldn't have bought it. Lesson learned though so going to cancel next year's renewal and most probably change car's as I shouldn't be have all these suspension problem's on a 25k milage car.

Just told them to shove it, total waste of 41 days just to get to this point.

They have photo's of the cracked outer hub assembly but still want to look at it but for me to arrange and pay for the ramp time again.

MOT was booked for next wednesday so they wanted to view it then but when I explained it's a MOT failure and I wouldn't be able to drive it away they said it's not their problem! Repairing garage couldn't get me in for three weeks at least and is 45 miles away so would have had to pay to get it trailered there.

Had enough of this so going to pay for this myself as it is a daily drive and I need the car for work.

Renault need to have a word with themselves using cowboys like this for what I thought was a genuine Renault product!

I have the extended warranty offered from Renault, and although its not an Actual Renault warranty, I have found it to be brilliant! They have yet to let me down with anything yet. Maybe its the dealer? Or it could be because my car isn't modified?!

Dealer definately hasn't helped in all this. Car is a totally unmodified 2012 265 Trophy which they say is my fault for owing a specialist vehicle which needs to go to a Renault sport dealer/specialist for any workConfused

Managed to get in at a garage on friday for the repairs due to a cancelation, 350 mile round trip, night in a hotel plus repair cost's but it will be worth it just so I can pass my MOT and get rid of this pile of ****.

But you say here: "I now know what the fault is thanks to K-Tech Racing". What are they doing to help you?

K222 how many miles have you done in it and have you tracked it, also how do KTEC enter into the equation?

Just over 25K and it's never been tracked.

With my local dealer not been able to find the fault and with it been my responsibility to pay for all diagnostic work I contacted Renault Sport Poole and K Tec.

Poole said they didn't have a clue, K Tec said they thought they knew what it was so I booked it in there. I had only been there for only 20 minutes they showed me the cracked outer hub assembly's.

Unfortunately they can't get me in to repair it before the MOT expires otherwise I would have got it fixed there.

Here's the sound clip I emailed to them-

265 Trophy Knock

and in reverse-

265 Trophy Knock in Reverse

Did it actually go onto the workshop at the dealership for them to investigate?

They had it in for a week.

That's at Seward Portsmouth btw. Used to be a Renault Sport dealer but isn't any longer.
