Hi,

About to pick up a new Clio RS Cup and giving serious consideration about getting involved in a Renaultsport track day, but I'm not sure how much to budget for?

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Cheers.

I was looking at the French dates and really fancy Le Mans but I'm having to look very carefully at my finances and don't think I can justify the expense:
Track day €300
Just over 1000km each way from where I live in Germany, so 2000km total and probably around 200 litres petrol @ €1.45 to €1.50, another €300
Then fuel on track.

Overnight accommodation ......
Probably looking at near enough €1000 for the event.

Of course for UK residents a UK track day would be more attractive and cheaper.

Your are correct in that your location relative to the track can be the lions share of the overall cost.

For Anglesey, which I intend doing, I will have a 300 mile round trip + 1 night hotel = £140 and another full tank of fuel for the day itself + lunch etc. - so £200 all in.
Of course you do need to add the invisible cost re brakes, tyres and oil.

For Spa which I will be attending 2 weeks prior to that my costs are much higher.
Round trip of 1100 miles, I night hotel UK, Eurotunnel, 2 nights hotel Spa, at least I tank of fuel on track + food etc.
Never actually calculated the cost but I estimate somewhere in the £800 - £850 range.

It is a pity that your budget may not stretch the Le Mans
I did the track day there last year and it really is a quite special circuit to drive - very technical and amazingly quick.

Everything depends upon how late one can book for Le Mans, maybe it's full already.
I really do fancy that but can't guarantee the money just yet, if at all.

I guess next year would be more realistic if I need to book well in advance,
but not 100% negative for 2017 yet.

Spa would be a little more manageable with distance at 650 km each way, but I'm already busy that weekend.
