The only chance for me to take the meg is if the dealer I was supposed to order a new one in will receive a manual cupped demonstrator, which unfortunately they have no idea / no choice what they will be somewhat forced to purchase....

I heard there will be limited supply of the RS coming into the UK as there is not that big demand for this car amongst the UK motoring public who want or need a 279HP car to tootle about town and the occasional weekend drive it is to keep the market value of the RS up there in the stratosphere so maybe there will be no demonstrators available?

Unless RUK have changed their position on this then all dealers that are registered as RS Specialists are required to have at least one of each RS model available as a demonstrator.
They have to keep them for 6 months before they can be sold.

My expectation would be a few ex demo's on the market around Christmas - predominantly in white with an average option list.

I was referring to user SKNY who stated the following. The only chance for me to take the meg is if the dealer I was supposed to order a new one in will receive a manual cupped demonstrator, which unfortunately they have no idea / no choice what they will be somewhat forced to purchase....

All I said was maybe Renault won’t be bringing demonstrators to their garages as user SKNY was told they dont knwo if they will be receiving a demonstratoir or not and if they do neither do they knwo the flavour of the car either but yes you are correct they are supposed to have demonstrators whether they will or not is open to debate reading the above. Funnily enough I phoned my local RS Renault Dealership yesterday and a guy there told me after he phoned his boss and other garages he came back to me and told me booking the RS will begin April with deliveries in late September beginning October I laughed at him and said are you off your head deliveries are supposed to be in June according to all the car magazines if not June then certainly July at the latest he asked for my name and contact telephone number so he could phone me if any info came to light interesting that even the boys who work for Renault don’t seem to know a thing about the RS release date as it seems to be all cloak and daggers regarding the elusive RS makes me smile a lot through frustration teeth grinding time, really what is up with the RS why all the secrecy. I will phone the dealership at the end of April hopefully they will have a definitive answer makes you wonder though as you would imagine the Renault RS accredited retailer would know more than most. Why dont you guys where ever you live start phoning your local retail RS dealership and ask the same questions would be inetresting to see the rsponse & what people post here it would be very educational for sure Anyway, won’t be long now, is what the monkey said when it got its tail cut off. The Leon has grown on me,after a few weeks was a bit bored of it but like most German cars they do things so well, both have there pluses and minuses
The Clio for me
Better size car
Just as much fun
Gearbox in sport mode better than dsg
Steering better
Engine noise better
Brakes feel firmer at top of the peddle but overall not as good as mines go the sub8 pack
The Leon for me
Leon better on fuel
Gearbox better in every day auto ,but not that much in it
Engine different league
Engine can over power traction in the wet 60+ in third
Seats perfect ,got bucket seats
Brakes brembos , stopping power Amazing
Supposed to be limited to 155 mph ,it's not limited!
Overall really happy with the Leon ,but for for the money the trophy is a bargain and the Leon is no more fun, for me the clio is the sweet spot upto date hot hatch that's not to expensive .

Hi All

All dealer demonstrators are currently in the country at import center - They're all manual 280 versions with cup chassis (of course!) but the dealer is free to choose the EDC version if they wish.

Demos should start to arrive at dealers in May, which is when ordering is planned to open & pricing should be released in the next three weeks or so

More updates as I'm able to share.

Luke

Not that good.

Back in December we were advised that orders would open in April with first deliveries in June.
So already put back by a month and even then the May 'ordering' is only planned, nothing definite.
Cannot see many June deliveries being realised myself.

All a bit similar to the Clio IV.
Both mine were ordered in April but not delivered until October time.
OK, Dieppe is not directly involved with the manufacture which may help but by the time this all gets underway the August shutdown will be looming and there is always the delay in the 'black hole' that is the UK import centre to add to that.

Any chance of finding out the wheel specs by the way ? now that the car is already launched it shouldnt be much of a secret, I would like to find out the ET and width of the 19" wheels please :)

Seen that insiders reveal quite a while ago, still no news on the wheels spec, frustrating :) as you can see the wheels laying there on their own, so it was just so easy to check for anybody, why am I interested in the ET is will it be as difficult to find an aftermarket wheel as it was with the R26, the 197/200 and the 250 with their out of industry standard ET of 68... if I decide to order the car I would need to know wether to go for the 18s and keep them for the winter tires and then get a set of 19s of choice, or just to go for the factory black 19s and use them for both winter and summer tires.

Luke, any idea when will we see the UK press reviews of the manual cup chassis cars ?

I dont know why, but just seems to me the German, French, Italian etc reviews, are all the same, a nice car, fast, usable, good leg room etc, why is it only the British that actually capture the spririt of a performance car / hothatch I dont know, but I do appreciate there is this British school of performance car reviews out there :)

So yes, waiting :) waiting for the reviews to come.

Feels like Renault could do better with marketing regarding this. Its gone so quiet when it turns up people will have forgotten about it. They should have copied the marketing for the focus, that team could have sold 'sold sand to the Egyptians' etc.

This coming Friday I'll be in the main Renault dealer in Munich to have my winter wheels swapped for summer ones. I'll certainly be using this opportunity to be asking a few questions.

Whilst at Renault Munich for something else today I took the liberty to enquire about the Megane RS and was astonished I could have even ordered one.
OK, so no hint at a delivery date and a few restrictions as yet, but I could have placed an order on an EDC non-Cup chassis.

The name of the new orange here in DE is "Tonic Orange" but the salesman kept wanting to call it Toxic Orange which we both agreed would have been a great name too.

He had to dig a little but he did find the in-house configurator and we went through all the options and configured one in my name, but with a non-binding contract. He then went into a back room and found the Megane RS brochures & price lists in an as yet unopened box.
Nice chap, he let me have them which means I have all the current DE details here with me and either later this evening or early tomorrow I'll post some details and figures.

I even have a price for the Cup chassis as an option (to the EDC) but it can't yet be ordered. He reckoned late summer or early autumn for that one.
He also believes they'll have a demonstrator sometime during May-ish. My test drive is already agreed for when it comes in.

No date other than "sometime towards end of year" for the Trophy version.

more later .......

I think it is pretty clear Renault have no interest in this brand anymore. Much better to sell suv and electric cars. I can understand, they also are not alone.

Buy the best of the latest or current hot hatches, as I can see many manufacturers pulling the plug on these in the next few years. No pun intended.

Dilly dilly.

I wouldn't say they don't have interest, but for sure the RS brand isn't their bread and butter range. It's a premium range for a niche market of enthusiasts (IMO).

So what can I say about German pricing?
Firstly the EDC is listed at €35,590 and the manual at €33,690

I had my quote based around the EDC and as I already mentioned the Cup chassis can't be ordered with this yet, but the option price is listed as €1690 and is called the Cup Packet incl. cup chassis, red discs & mechanical LSD.
It also has a note saying the cup packet can only be ordered in conjunction with Bi-material discs.

From experience each country puts together its own "standard package" as I've seen with various differences between my Clio Trophy in DE and those supplied in the UK so there's no saying if your standard car will be equipped the same as here. Anyway, the standard package is pretty well equipped; 2 zone climate control, alarm (this was an option on my Clio), heated & electric wing mirrors (also an option on my Clio), vanity mirrors for driver & passenger, grey brake calipers, LED lights, electric windows all round, loads of airbags .. etc, electric hand brake (one thing I really don't like), R-Link 2 with 7" screen, 18" Estoril wheels, Android Auto & Apple Car Play, plus a few other standard things not worth mentioning.

Wheels:
18" are standard,
19" "Interlagos Black" (look like diamond cut from the b&w picture as they're not all black, just to confuse?) €990
19" "Interlagos" Gloss Black (would be my choice if upgrading) €790

The 18" wheels have 235/40/18 tyres but salesman wasn't sure what make.
The 19" wheels have "35" series tyres which I think he said are 240/35/19 but not 100% sure of my memory there.

Seats:
No leather option but Alcantara at €1290

Sunroof €790 (I personally like this as it's the only way to get a light grey head-lining.
Head-Up display €390 (good value methinks)
Darkened rear windows €190
Navigation R-Link2 with 8.7" screen & Bose €1590

RS Monitor €290. This can be ordered but it's not yet available for installation. Hmmm?

5y (60,000km) full service option €2204

Toxic (sorry Tonic) Orange (or LY) €1650

As standard we get 3y navi map updates & HD traffic included.

He also offered me 10% discount on the final price.
I hope this gives a little insight.
