I like the front end, it's a nice modernisation of the current front end but it looks as though thymes got bored by the time they got to the boot and just wanted to get to the pub. I'm not sure I like the idea of a three cylinder engine in a hot hatch, but then I didn't like the idea of a 1.6T engine in a hot hatch after having my trophy but it's grown on me in my ST.

I think hot hatches can go two ways from now on either more and more powerful engines with all the driver aids, 4wd, 4 wheel steer, auto etc that go along with it or sustantially lighter vehicles that have a nice high revving less powerful engine with a good manual box.

I feel that for driving enjoyment a light fwd car with a zingy small engine and less comforts and added acoutrements is the way to go.

Of course if you want a daily driver that will hold your hand and do the driving for you that is another matter altogether.........

I am quite interested to see the ST in the metal if it's a improvement over the previous car then it will be a great drive. Not much power gains but it seems to have lost some weight so probably quicker 0-60 and also on a flying lap.

Side note how come some people's posts on here are moderated with the over view of a SS officer and then others get away with Trolling every thread they go on?

will be interested to see how the tuning goes on this. personally, i like the idea of the 3 cylinders, i think that is pushing things. if you're going to have small capacity hot hatches, then do something that moves that forward. 3 cylinders certainly does that. if they keep the enjoyment bit and decent power/torque, and combine that with even better efficiency, then that sounds good use of technology to me.

anyway, be interested to see how things go on this thru' 2018.

ps - remember guys, its still a manual...and THREE doors Wink

Appears to be getting good reviews...optional LSD is catering to the hard-core hot hatch goers. 20k though...

Just as Renault stop making the Clio 220, here comes Ford with a brand new class leading Fiesta ST. It looks like a stonking hot hatch and there’s no competition for Ford once again.

Did the Clio ever offer any competition to the the Fiesta?!! Ford got is so right and Renault got it so wrong, glad to see they appear to be back on track with the Megane though.

5 years later you still cant let it go 😂

I bet the fiesta is a brilliant car to drive but the looks do nothing for me, looks a bit soft

still fishing for a bite, sounds a bit desperate now. Ne ST gets great write up and it sounds like Ford have sorted the ride out with this one, but for me, I don't like how it looks, it'll sell loads regardless, always have decent payment options.

Haven't driven it myself, but I've heard the new Fiesta is brilliant to drive, even better than the previous model.

So it's likely the ST will remain the hot hatch choice in this category, at least until the Mk V Clio.

be interesting to see how the new 3cyl performs & feels compared to the 1.6 ecoboost as that was an excellent engine...just hope the build quality & paint finish has improved as it was way behind the clio for that

Seems to have hit the ground running
https://www.autocar.co.u...fiesta-st-2018-uk-review
10% of Fiesta's expected to be an ST....and 70%+ to be top line ST-3s...Clearly doing something right.

Aesthetically I never liked Ford Focus or Fiesta, they just look to uninspiring. Said that, they really drive well and if looks are not that important then definitely one to consider. The value for money is great apart from a lot of them have been targeted by thieves recently.

Alloy wheels appear to have taken a turn for the worst recently.
The ones on that Fiesta are awful, but they aren’t alone - most alloys these days are.

Thankfully easy to sort.

The ST is a genuinely good looking car though, as is the new Focus. I think the next Focus RS will look stunning.

The circuit is short and tight so probably favoured the fiesta. Expect the gap would be wider somewhere like Donington or Snetterton.

Impressive performance from the Fiesta, which looks even better in 3 door. Although it was a tight and short track , the Megane is supposed to be pretty nimble in those situations with its 4WS.

The new Focus ST should be a decent bet as it is already a great looking car and rumour has it it’s getting a detuned Focus RS engine. I bet it sells really well like the Fiesta ST.

Its a shame the Fiesta wasn't timed against a few of the Megane's main competition, the track really suited the smaller lighter car, no getting away from the fact that the Fiesta is a cracking car though.
