50 miles and back to the dealer
|
So finally picked my rs280 edc up today, really happy, been a long wait since April, drove to my parents, felt great, about an our later take my brother and dad out for a quick spin just to show them, and a jolt from the car, with an orange spanner and check auto gearbox warning on dash, kept being jerky and going from 6th to 3rd, back to 6th then 1st when coming to a stop, with warning light off and on, so back to the dealer, code says selanoid sensor or something or other, they find a plug that looks a bit out of place so clean and push in properly, wipe codes and take for a test drive, still same problem, so I have a dacia logan stepway for the Weekend until we can get answers or a better loan car.

So after getting a master tech on it from 8am today, doing a thorough investigation, and sending a report to Renault, within 30 mins they came back with fit a new gearbox, so now need to wait to so how long that's going to take, so until then, get to keep the s*** box dacia

There is nothing wrong with a Margaret dacia After all they are just a Renault in disguise 😝 lol Good luck with your car Hope it’s sorted soon

Brand new car and having replacement box! Personally I’d be looking at rejecting the car. I know it’s been a long wait, but that’s a pretty serious issue buddy. If it had happened 1 to 2 years into ownership then the replacement under warranty would be a relief, but in a car that’s just came out the showroom??

Very annoying but at least they're doing the right thing. Difficult to reject as they're playing ball. I would push for a free 3 year servicing pack to smooth the blow and get the Dacia upgraded.

It's absolutely sickening when a new car you've been looking forward to goes wrong. At least it's diagnosed quickly and it's a new gearbox, not what you want to have happening, but at least it should be perfect once the new unit is fitted.

If there was another new car available in similar spec then yes I probably would of said get it swapped, but I'm not waiting another 3+months to get a new car. They have arranged a hire car through enterprise, and tbf they have been trying to get things sorted ASAP, it is just frustrating. I'm deciding on the compensation lol, atm I do like the look of the trophy bonnet which I think will be available through Renault performance later in the year *wink wink* lol

I've ordered an auto for my 300. Eeeeekkkk!
One time I was sitting in a showroom in my 3 month wait new car been shown around by the salesman. So where's the Alcantara? I asks.
They offered to order an new car but like you I couldn't chuff the wait so just accepted the rather poor leather over the no cost option, Alcantara.
I did get further compensation but no cash as that side was settled.
Must have been heartbreaking.

This is something they have not seen before, hence the straight away fit new gearbox, so mine can be sent straight back to Renault for them to investigate, its along the lines of a oil pressure selanoid, so I'm thinking that has failed and not allowed the oil to go around the gearbox and its basically ate itself.

Still no car, been told new gear box will be with dealer next Tuesday, so driving round in the entaprise astra they arranged for me until then, spoke to customer service today to try and get a r.s. To use until I get mine back, another dealers demo or press car, best I got offered was the next level up with enterprise which is basically a small suv, frustrated is an understatement.

I feel for you. Losing the new car buzz is quite disappointing to say the least. At least the replacement gearbox is not on back order so hopefully it will arrive as promised. Is the dealer an RS specialist with their techs doing the job or are Renault sending one of their guys from France? Pretty major job and doubtless the first of its kind in the UK on a MkIV so hopefully there will be some expertise on site and not a fitter with a spanner in one hand and a 'Haynes' manual in the other. Best car from Enterprise I got when I had the problems with my MkIV last August was a 1.5dci Capture. Customer Services were an absolute waste of space and maintained that it was up to Enterprise as to what model you had - I was told that there is no specific like for like requirement placed on them by Renault. Hope all goes well and that the issue if fully fixed by this work, keep us informed. Edited by user 17 July 2019 07:45:35(UTC)

Well gearbox originally was supposed to be with dealer today, but got pushed back and back and now will be earlier next week, which the faulty unit is being taken out Friday this week so it will be ready to be fitted as soon as it arrives. Apparently they have a tech that is more than qualified to fit it, I did ask the question, so hopefully should go smoothly, the new service manager gets to drive it home and back the next day to make sure all is OK which will be around 70 miles, which is fine as its 70miles closer to being run in and being able to enjoy it even more. I have emailed ceo of Renault UK aswell to let him know how useless the customer service was, and if I have anything back will let them know that giving a customer with a faulty car a rent a car from a different manufacturer is probably not a clever idea, they managers in the dealer got it, and I joked as I was leaving that I'm going straight to vauxhal to look at the vxr models, which some people might actually do.

VXR models are no more unfortunately, that's why I am in the rs...
Its frustrating with a factory fresh car but it'll be sorted soon enough.
I had a similar situation with my J VXR. Opel had fitted the wrong spec lsd so the car had to go back for a new box, rather than strip it to fit the lsd they just sent out new gearboxes, it only affected the first batch of vxr's, I was put in a standard astra J for the duration.

Oh, forgot to say, the replacement gearboxes that Opel sent out were actually reconditioned boxes with the new diff fitted. My 'new' box lasted about a year before I had to have another one fitted but was fine for the next 6 years that I owned it.
On a side note, the manual gearbox in the Renault, I have heard some people complaining that its notchy, its smooth as silk! If you want notchy, go try a GM f32 or f40 gearbox, now THAT'S notchy lol

I didn't realise that vxr was no more, I already had to threaten to go next door to hyundai to look at i30n after my first visit as I stood in dealership for an hour and no one came to talk to me, even after being asked.

The gearbox issue will be a mistake somewhere, so long as they fix it and ensure no one endures similar is the main for them. The trouble you have encountered obviously needs compensating but that is subjective to all sides. I was "chomping at the bit" to get my car, I was a little bit of a pain to the dealer, but equally I bought one of the most expensive models they make. Playing nicely but firmly may be best to get it all resolved quickly, but after getting a 1.0 Mitsubishi Colt car to replace my 3.0 V6 Pug 406 Coupe I've given up complaining about the choice of hire car. As TopGear once said, the fastest cars are hire cars... Edited by user 18 July 2019 08:48:24(UTC)

It's a recall to have some sealant applied to the underside of the bonnet.

Well 3 weeks today I had my car delivered and had to take back, and still no idea when I will have it back to me, 2 weeks ago I was told "mid next week" that came and was told "deff in to dealer next Tuesday" that's now been and gone, and now it's just in transit. Personally I think I have been patient and understanding, but when the first communication I had from Renault themselves, even after my dealer asked them to contact me, was after 11 days and I had to contact them on twitter, and all I asked for was another megane r.s. To use rather than the enterprise astra they surprised me with, all I got was they could upgrade me to next class which would be a small suv, then when escalated maybe a premium car like a golf r, which at that point I was that annoyed I told them if they got me something like that I woukd probably just end up going out and buying 1.
