I expect you get this a lot but still, looking at a 2007 Renaultsport Megane 225 Cup with just over 100,000 miles on it, part service history and remapped to 250bhp.

Anything in particular to look out for on these cars? Why type of price would you expect to pay at a dealer, I know what autotrader etc but wondered what real owners might think about the value.

I will be honest its between this and a ST, not looking for any comparisons but thats my couple of choices so far. :)

Megane or ST, that's the choice I was down to back in 2007. Went Renault, obviously, still in one 12 years later.

Lower swivel hubs is the main thing to watch for. Feels like a front puncture when steering from my experience.
Window regulators go too. That's the common stuff I can think of.

Make sure the cambelt and water pump have been done, 72,000 or 5 years. Probably about a £500 quid job.

I think they're good value, but it's hard to put a price on a car without seeing it at this age. Maybe £3000 for a nice one, £1500 to £2000 for a not so good one?

Don't buy the 1st one you see, I looked at about 6 R26s before finding one I was happy with. And that's the last thing I'd say, R26 is the best version to go for due to the LSD and std fit Recaros. If you can find one in your budget.

Thank you for the reply, not too bad really then, some cars have a list as long as your arm to look out for. It has part service history so will see when it's been done, if it's been done.

It's a dealer so the prices are always higher but at least you do get a warranty which can be handy if its a decent warranty. My complete max price is £3000 so will definitely see if I can find one in that price range.

A lot of the ST's I have looked at are quite common for rust on the rear arch and it shows as well

I've not seen rust issues on the Meg, apart from one that had no paint left on the front edge of the wheel arch where it gets stone peppered.
Good luck with the search.

I think this one is worth a look if you're anywhere near it. (Ayrshire)
