Anyone heard anything about the Captur tce160 1.3 being planned for the punchier clio ? Since there's no real RS planned guess that could at least be something to have in the lineup for those who still seek a bit more go from the current model.

Would be great to know if anyone heard any rumors, wife's car might be in line for replacement next summer and would rather have the clio than the others in class, but 130 doesnt sound quick enough...

There is supposed to be a 1.6 Hybrid on the way from previous reviews on youtube by car journalists - hopefully that will develop into an RS version. If not, RS Clio wise, my 15 year RS Clio relationship will end when my EDC dies or I'm tempted by the Audi A1 40 with 200PS before hand.

That’s true. But the RS executives have already said that there’s no Clio RS in this new generation as we know it. Also, if there was, the RS version would have been the basis for the latest Clio Cup.

On a French forum they are talking about the new (March 2020) emission tax rates.
By their calculations it seems the Megane RS will attract an eye watering penalty of 20,000 euros Shocked when first registered.
Rumour is that Renault will cease to produce the car.

I doubt an RS Clio will ever be produced againCry

Exactly that, European emissions regulations, and the need of manufactures to reduce their average CO2, will mean that this type of car will become more rare

Have you got the link to the French forum? That would make interesting reading seeing how the French government usually assist its motor industry.

Its nothing to do with 'their' motor industry as such.
Tax is based on CO2 emmisissions of all vehicles registered in France.
It seems Merc, Porsche and Beemer will be particularly hard hit.
