Anyone experiencing oil and coolant usage on the mk4 rs? Mines burning got as much interest in oil that the Americans are threatening war against it. Several trips to the dealer are showing no fault found apparently 🙄

Need more info, how much oil you see consumed? and in how many miles, like every 1000?

That doesn't seem normal! Most modern engines will burn some oil. 1 quart in 1500 miles is considered ok.

How many miles on your car? did you change the oil weight from the usual ?

No oil top up needed in its first 4000 miles. And that includes 2 track days.
I needed to top up the coolant once and added about 200ml but that's expected from new.

You might need to take a deeper look, any blue smoke from the exhaust? Is there any misfiring or rough idle?
Have a look at the spark plugs too.

No rough running, no smoke to report. Dealer has looked and said they can’t find a fault. But also have damaged my car in the process. Renault customer services have no interest in the whole situation. The whole things a joke to be honest.

Is it an early 280?
Did have an issue with the Oil Pump & should of had a letter for recall!
Renault Customer ServicesAngry Angry

Got a rattle behind info system.
Been 3 garages, everyone...... NOT INTERESTED.
Basically because I did not buy it from them, shocking
Been going on since December this.

Give up now.
So after 5 RS Clios, 4 RS Meganes...think, that's that!
Shame, decent car.

the original posters oil consumption is so high i am surprised its not blue smoking!!!

It appears that the boot has been painted, it’s very rough and has lost its gloss finish. And my paint depth gauge will read all over the car except the boot 🤔

It had the recall in December. I too am surprised it’s not smoking

If there is a problem with the valve solenoid, car should perform poorly and there should be a check engine light.

So they scratched the boot? Angry Maybe calying and polishing can smooth things out.

Not normal consumption i think.

Mine, from April 2018 with 24689Km, has never had oil consumption and I'm going for the second oil change. I have gone through the OTS of the oil pressure solenoid valve. I had a reprogramming of injection control unit due to an error of "engine breakage risk" in 2018 with 6000km.

I use recommended oil (Elf 0W40) and check the oil every 15-30 days depending if i have time but no more than one month to check. I do about 1000km a month but I do some road sections in sports drive when i have time (2 times a month, a little sport driving).

BR.

Been in contact with Renault customer service, who sent me to a body shop. £2104 to put right along with the scratches in the bonnet that have also appeared when they had it 😭
