Me? Loved it. Mad as a box of frogs, but very, VERY cool. Had the pleasure of running around in a Mars Red 3.0 V6 Privilege for a weekend after talking nicely to my old GM. Me and a mate were driving down Broad St in Birmingham in it, with the roof back, the windows down, and the excellent Hi Fi turned right up. We were getting more looks than the Ferrari 360 infront of us. At one point, an oriental fella in his Civic Type R put his window down, leaned right out and took a picture of me with his camera! He retreated back into his car giving me the thumbs up, yelling "Cool Car! Cool Car!" http://images.google.co....q=renault+avantime&hl=en Shame it didn't sell...

yeah I agree, a real character vehicle amongst all the clones out there.

Didn't sell due to lack of a target market: absolutely no foot room in the back for adults or children and not really fitting into the coupe market.

But a really cool car! CoolCoolCool

Vel satis is nice but you do need a paper bag over your head when your driving it. Blush

I have to agree there, the vel satis would need privacy glass, and be a case of whenever i pulled up somewhere with a lot of ppl, id make the girlfriend get out of driver seat to take the shame..LOL

I liked Vel Satis too. Comfy seats and lovely to drive.

Best bit about driving it was that you didn't have to look at the outside!

Depreciation is quicker than a F15 fighter jet. We only ever sold 5 brand new and 8 used ones. used ones were good value for money but that just doesnt make up for the looks. For the money when they were new would have had a nice 3 year old 5 series Beemer.

How comfy are those double hinged front seats? The 2006 facelift improved its looks from the outside & added the superb new SatNav, but they're not being produced in RHD are they?

I sold 2 used ones while I worked at REA. The first was a 6 m old 2.2dCi Privilege in Hololgram Grey with SatNav and laminated side windows - the customer paid £12k for it, with a 3 year warranty and 5 yrs 0% finance (subsidised by Renault To Go!) Thats a lot of car for the money!!

Sold an Avantime in Illiad Blue / Cream leather to a car collector too.

I prefer the Avantime over the new Espace.

Saw a Vel Satis on a blokes drive the other day when I delivered a parcel to him. I started chatting to him about it and he seemed quite taken aback that I even knew what one was!

I love the Avantime, I think it's a true design masterpiece. On par with the Vel Satis, my father owns one and it's just so beautiful. Whenever I see one of them on the road it feels like I'm in some sort of alternative dimension, honest I felt that a couple of times.

I admit they're not to everybody's taste, but I find them amazing. It's a shame they're not my cup of tea though, could have bought my father's Vel Satis as he's thinking of replacing it, and had the chance of buying a used V6 Avantime. Didn't stand a chance against the 197...
