I like the Avantime and Vel Satis you can slate them till you drive them. I have driven both and think they are fantastic. It has a unique style about them which no other manufacturer can manage. Just a trivial bit of information the 3.5 V6 which featured in the Vel Satis is the same engine which powers the Nissans 350Z all be it tuned for more power by nissan!

We've had an Avantime for 4 years from new and it still turns heads. We are starting to think of a replacement but maybe we can find space to hang onto this alongside the Spider.

I took Transport Design at Coventry from 98-01 and remember when the first Vel Satis concept car came out (01 I think). It blew everyones socks off! Check it out if you can find a picture of it. But I've no idea how they managed to make it look so weird for the production version.

Avantime rocks.

Didn't like the Avantime when it came out and I still don't like it. The Vel Satis is a bit better but not much.

I'm more of a fan of the smaller Renault cars.

Just wondering, how much would a well specced Avantime or Vel Satis cost nowadays a few years old, they must have depreciated like anything - possible bargain?

had a look at one of them at the weekend the old man cant make his mind up what car he wants its either a brand new E Class, S Type or A6 or a slightly older A8, XJ or S Class.

He is tempted by a the S Type at the mo, bit retro for me but nice.
