Does anyone have KW variant 3’s on their 197?

How do they find them? I know one person who has them and who says he has not noticed that they are a firmer ride than the normal cup chassis 197. I know they give a lower ride height, but I was hoping for something more track focused than the original setup so not sure the V3’s will do the job?

I have tried to get spring ratings from KW and they have not got back to me.

Next option would be the cup race car setup, with the adjustable height units, which would not give me rebound adjustment, but that’s not a major problem. I am not sure the cup car struts will fit the road car 197 hubs though? Can anyone help with this?

My budget gives me a bit more than the KW v3, but struggling to find a true track option.

Ohlins: £3.5k per corner, and that’s the only ones they do L

Penske: £3k for a kit

Bilstein: don’t make a kit

AST: don’t trust them not to fall apart

KW competition spec kit: even KW cannot advise if it will fit a 197 and not just the cup car.

All in all I am running out of options.

It would have been nice to get proper coilovers on the rear, rather than a separate spring and damper, but at the moment I am losing the will to live lol.

So, any thoughts, feedback on v3’s, information on whether the cup car stuff fits the 197?

I would avoid Ohlins too. A friend of mine ended up getting a refund on the Ohlins coilovers he bought because they kept breaking! Great on bikes, not so great on cars it seems.

Should fit the 197 if they fit the cup car surely?

well, at £10k a set i will avoid them anyway lol.

just annoying not being able to find something suitable. I dont want to get the v3's to find they are no better than standard, just lower.

Hmmm... tricky.

What about the new twin speed jobbies from the 200 + some lower springs? I know it's not adjustable, but will be stiffer whilst still being fairly compliant on the road?

well, the R3 stuff doesnt fit as they have different hubs. No guarantee the coilover struts fit the standard hubs, and spending £2k is an expensive way to find out

Surely its not about the make of the coilovers as much as the setup!!

I could quite easily make my car worse than a 182 by just turning the little red knob

If V3's aren't able to give you something more suited to track than standard, then I'm not sure what will!!!

i wanted height adjustable really, so that it can be corner weighted etc.

Think i am just too fussy lol. maybe i should just buy a car thats suitable lol.

Speaking to Yozza now though, they can custom build a set of billies to my specs, similar to their PSS10 kit for the 182 :D

well, v3's give me ride height adj and damping, but from what an owner has said who has them, they arent any stiffer than standard. now obviously there is rebound and damping to play with hence me asking for me feedback.

Yozzasport have suggested a bilstein B16 spec coilover, with fully proper rear coilover too. Expensive but basically custom built to my requirements.
