As buying the Wind has dented the finances, we can't do the F1 this year, but we're looking at camping for WSR this time instead.  Can anyone recommend a good site?

We normally do Cavalier Fields when we go F1 but it's a 45 min walk from the track - so somewhere closer would be good.  There will probably be quite a few of us and possibly some kiddiewinks too, so nothing too rowdy.

Thanks in advance!

Quite a few do Hamilton Fields.. I believe Paolo is planning on doing it and he usually is an organisational wizard so might want to check with him

Im not that much of an organising wizard, but if a group are up for it then I am too and suppose we should start a thread.....

Hamilton Fields is probably the better of the sites IIRC...

There's a supermarket not so far away, its not that rowdy, you could walk to the track but its about a 2 minute drive....facilities are 'ok' as far as the local area's other camp sites are concerned...

The hot shower depends how early you're up IIRC LOL

Been so busy lately I've not really had a chance to look into camping details for WSR....but thinking it's my likely option, not sure if I'll do WSR both days- i.e. will I camp Friday and/or Saturday?

£10 pppn isn't it?

I went a couple of years ago and we asked if they'd set aside an area for us- we got there quite early in the day and went in the left hand field, much quieter- we went right to the top near the fence- your cars are safe away from nutters in Vectras doing doughnuts.Blush

...shall we start a list of people who'll attend?

That way we can arrange a rendezvous and get an area set aside.  If only 3 of us are camping it may be a bit dull LOL

Has anyone thought about staying Friday and/or Saturday eve?  What are peoples plans/ideas?

Dont know the name of the field, but in 2010 I camped in the field that has the bridge attached that leads straight to the front door (over the dual carridgeway). Cant remember the exact cost, but it wasnt too bad. Facilities were 'ok' in that there was a bog and a cafe tesnt (not in the same place!)

I'll be heading there again this year no doubts.

Hamilton is a bit quieter and only a 1 mile drive tops....

Personally I'd rather stay there....Anymore takers for camping?

Not been on here much lately but I am up for it if some plans are being forged...

Me, my mate, the OHs and couple of little ones are going to camp at Hamilton fields on the Saturday Night. Is it best to book tickets in advance or pay on the gate?

Erm not sure Lora, be good to do Friday and Saturday eve of camping I think....but not so sure I can tolerate two! LOL..but I'm open to ideas..probably be best to arrive Friday arvo/eve....

Will be doing the car Friday, so could head down Friday eve and meet up...if I go Saturday eve can someone save me a space if they're going Friday? Blush

If enough of us wanna go to Hamilton, we could contact them in advance and advise on numbers and ask if we can have a pitch just set aside for us.  Some of us did this a couple of years ago- the left hand field toward the top.....quite quiet there, cars are safe and away from the dicks.

As for paying, I'd say pay in advance to be sure on a place but there's usually plenty of room....Most arrive Saturday eve I think.

Can anyone indicate when they're going? By accounts of this thread there are about 5 or 6 cars (some booked and some thinking of booking)....

Sent an enquiry to Hamilton Fields asking about a pitch reservation and to see what they advise...

Hopefully we could all be together no matter what eve we arrive on.... Smile

Good plan, we had a dedicated RS field/area last year, was through the gate, then left up in top corner. The one to avoid is the "family" field on the right - its all cars as goalposts in that one!

Will be avoiding the "family" field then at all costs.

.

So through gate and turn left it is. Whoever gets there friday can they post up the exact location on here. Or try and gather as many RS cars together so its easy to spot.

.

I'll be bringing my RS250 and my mate will be in a BTCC kitted Leon. We'll be there Saturday mid-morning.

Hi all, I emailed Hamilton last Friday- made an enquiry about having a pitch:

This was my reply:

Hi David,
Thank you for your email.

I have reserved you an area in the quieter field (the left field with the
showers) for approx 6/7 tents. The cost will be £10 per person per night
with payment due on arrival in cash. (Please note that we do ask for all
music and generators to be switched off by midnight across the whole
campsite).

I have made the booking under your name (David Snape/RUK Forum) and that is all that's needed when
your group arrive.

Hope this is all ok?......

Kind regards

Anette

So, when you get ther there is an area reserved in the left hand field, for 6 /7 pithces at moment- i know one other who isn't listed on here that's attending so if anyone else does also, can they post on here that way I can contact Annette and inform her there are a few more of us.

I'll be heading down Friday arvo, not sure on arrival time, hopefully whilst still light (6/7pm?)- there is a Morrisons or Tesco (or Sainsbury) within Towcester I believe in case anyone needs food/drink so we could all trundle up there once set up if thats good for anyone...

If anyone wants to swap numbers then we can contact each other on the day/before with a POA. Smile

I'll start a list, add your name on if you would with tent numbers:

Paolo - (Friday arrival) 1 pitch
Blue Diamond - (Friday I think) 1 pitch
Lora -Friday? 1 pitch?
GT100 - (Saturday arvo) 1 Pitch -
