If anyone is looking, this must be one of the lowest mileage examples to become available, with just 3545 miles since 1997.

Available through Renault Cannock, can be seen on Autotrader, and at £20k seems reasonably priced.

Not all is as it seems with this car... History and mileage as far as I'm aware

The history is patchy and the mileage is incorrect - hence all is not what it seems.

That is unless it has been sorted since someone I know went to view it Wink

Can't quite remember. Something like the mileage on the MOTs went from 7k down to 3k with no given reason. I mean it might be legit that it needed a new clock or something, but from what was said I don't think that was the case. I'll see if the person will post up exactly what the issue(s) was :)

Yes I went to look at it. It's the MD's car who bought it off the owner. I called them the day before to ask if i could come and view it as it was a couple of hours drive from my house and they said fine no problem. Dealership on my visit the next day were very unhelpful and said they didn't have the keys or any info on the Spider and I would need to leave my details for them to phone me. No manager or MD were around that day and a sales man who knew nothing about the car or what it was.

A week later I had no phone call from them so decided to give them a call. Got through to the manager of the dealership who also knew very little about the car. He then sent me through the service history that was on file from Renault since 1997 to present day saying that as it had such low miles it didnt need servicing very much.... (Is that the same with my v6 then!!!) :)

On the PDF he sent through to me it had been serviced from 1997 to 2005 and the milage had gone from 0 to just over 7000!! 2005 onwards doesn't get serviced and then in 2007 it crops back up for a service with 3500 miles on the clock (give or take a few).. I didnt call back and never recieved a call back from the dealership.

Cambelt was only done once and services were infrequent.

Service schedule -

14/8/1997 758 Miles
3/9/1997 1 Mile
10/3/1998 2514 Miles
7/12/1998 3556 Miles
18/1/1999 5023 Miles
23/12/1999 7142 Miles
8/9/2005 3354 Miles
28/4/2011 3370 Miles

Not sure what the reason behind this is but on inspection is didnt look like a 3000 mile car tbh. Engine all rusty on driveshafts, chips on bodywork and fibreglass panels. Flagged to RUK after this happened but didnt get an answer as to discrepancy on service milage. Could just be a discrepancy as they are electronic odometers on these cars and may have had it changed at some point but this was never pointed out to me on any occasion.

I actually went down on the Sunday with a cash deposit and was ready to buy the car. I'm now glad they were so unhelpful and bought an atom instead.

well if your going to clock a car you would at least think about doing right...

think the dealers must think buyers are thick if they think the mileage issue isnt going to be noticed!!!Clown

if it had a speedo/milo change then fair enough but with no backing data or proof and then advertising it at 3500miles
instead of at least 10000miles sounds like a trading standards issue to me...the "missing" servicing data is even more
of a worry because even low mileage cars need a service and tlc Blush

i know i wouldnt be buying that one thats for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Clown

They were claiming it was a private sale and nothing to do with the dealership, even though its been parked in their service bay for over a year and it was the MD selling it... Plus the advert on autotrader is from the dealership!

Did you go and look at it? I'd be interested to know the background and if it was an error. Found it strange how the dealership never contacted me back after they sent me the service history..

Just been reduced by £1000

Yes I checked this and it wasnt listed on the renault retail dealership site...

Looks like it recently had an mot/tax done plus ad has had 'part service history' included.

Any update on this from anyone at RUK? Wouldn't want someone to be caught out if the miles don't check out.
