Sky Sports F1 are reporting that the infamous crash barrier enthusiast, Pastor Maldonado has been dropped by Renault F1

Kevin Magnussen set to replace Pastor Maldonado at Renault

Dane expected to partner Jolyon Palmer next season

Kevin Magnussen is poised to replace Pastor Maldonado at Renault for the 2016 season, Sky Sports understands.

The team - then known as Lotus prior to Renault's buy-out in December - announced four months ago that Maldonado would be staying on. But the Venezuelan, reputed to pay almost £20m for his seat, is believed to have been ousted after backing from his sponsors dried up.

Renault, who will unveil their driver line-up as well as their new car at a media event next week in Paris, have refused to confirm or deny speculation that Maldonado has been dropped.

Magnussen was released by McLaren at the end of last year but is now set to partner English rookie Jolyon Palmer in 2016.

Reports first surfaced earlier this month that Magnussen had been at the team's Enstone base for two days of talks with senior management.

The highly-rated Dane drove for McLaren in 2014, scoring a podium finish on his debut, but was subsequently sidelined when Fernando Alonso returned to Woking to partner Jenson Button.

Bit of a shame as far an entertainment goes but should be a better driver pairing. The carbon shop at Enstone just halved its 2016 budget.

Just a show car and even the livery isn't final. However great to see Renault commit to long term F1 and other motorsports.

For all the RedBull-Renault trouble it's good that the works team have RedBull as a benchmark to see how their chassis & engine are developing.

Is it a matte liquid yellow or just matte black?

If it's matte liquid yellow - I'm hoping that my Trophy isn't going to be superceded by a matte liquid yellow special edition Tongue

It's a matt liquid yellow. The black elements are gloss

Is it matte for the same reasons Ted Kravitz implied for Red Bull being more slippery through the air?

Looks good for whatever reason.

Great looking paint job and I think the drag / weight from journos is probably nonsense.

Renault apparently have a step on the engine for Aus.

Keeping expectations low for the works team, hopefully borderline top 10 in qualy would be a decent starting point. My bet for a stand out performance will be RedBull. They screwed up the chassis for half of last year but had one of the best by the end. Better chassis aligned with a few more horses could make them pretty strong around Melbourne.

Only too see how much of a cock up the new rules exacted in actual practise. I sure they were good in theory.

Oh, that's not good. I wish that they wouldn't keep changing the rules. They don't do that in other successful sports

Qualy needs binning and reverting to last years.

Looks like Merc have retained their advantage.

Grounded start for Renault, looking at RedBull they must have made a decent step with the power units performance.

A good solid start to season for Renault F1, even though both cars out of the points they got to the end.
K Mag could have finished higher if he didn't get a rear puncture on the first lap.
palmer had a good scrap with the Toro Roso cars but seemed to struggle with tyre wear which allowed them to pass.

They are working on it.

As soon as the brochure becomes available I'll share it on here and you will be able to order through any Renault dealer/ online shop.
