can anyone please explain why when i use the configuration on the rs 280 and select recaros for £1200, why cant i select "no" to the bucket seat option for the extra £300, why not just alter the config setup so that recaros are £1500 - same thing i know but 1200 then 300 seems like a scam.
Also , just done a config with the trophy edc, ( obviously as far as i am concerned) and with paint and bose parking and visio packs the price is roughly the same as the type r gt, yes the rgt is manual but mmm tough decision, that type r is an awesome machine, renault will have to throw in some severe sweeteners.

Either get the trophy or the type r both as good as each other, personally the trophy beats the type r but the looks of a boy racer puts me off but megane on the other hand is a pure machine to look at.

^^^ This.

The CTR is hands down the best Hot Hatch I have EVER driven, it really is worth every penny and then some.

It makes ALL the rest of the Hot Hatch dross on the market seem totally and utterly inert.

Granted the looks divide opinion but it has grown on me and I am personally not prepared to sacrifice the driving experience in a car like this for an objectively 'prettier' exterior, I will leave that to the Narcissists LOL .

Get it bought, you wont regret it Big Smile

I actually agree with Mr Vix, I love the looks of the Type R and the way the R drives is a thing to behold, if only it had the paddleshift like the Megane EDC option, but that being said - the TypeR has a truly awesome manual gearbox, probably the best man gbox I have ever used - dilemmas
Also with the way Renault have acted over the release/non-release of the RS280, means I have lost a bit of trust in Renault, I'm sure I am not the only one either

It isn't to everyone's taste and I would agree that the Megane RS is the better looking product but I defy any one that is serious about good driving cars to drive both and not buy the CTR. It really is that good and you will be grinning far too much to worry about what others think. If you are are a fragile individual and worry what others think, get the Megane.

Other than Jornalists no one has yet driven a Trophy, having read all the UK mags most Journos would prefer a current 4/5 year old Trophy to a CTR where does that leave me. I accept the new Trophy has some of the old Trophy Rs spec plus the four wheel steering with more power and torque and newer tech, for me thats progress in a great looking package.

You’ll get some money off a Trophy I’m sure.
I did, wasn’t massive, but considering how new it is I’m happy.

Type R undoubtedly a great car to drive, shame it looks like it does - I’ll never find out just how good it is as I’d never consider it on looks alone.
Vulgar looking thing.

UK road test CTR v Trophy will be interesting. Hopefully we’ll see that soon.

The new trophy will be fine, but it is miles off best in class. Ctr fk8 is the best, I think the looks are stunning but some prefer to select based on others opinions.

Me, I'd buy the fk8 if I wanted the best, or i30n if I wanted something that did everything a car needs to do on the road. Trophy market very limited I think.

Tough call for the 30k ish hot hatch atm. CTR would probably take my money but I'd be waiting for more info/reviews on the Trophy 300 when equipped with better rubber. That said I'd probably keep a nicely spec'd 275 over both of them but if I did feel the need to burn a load of money then I'd probably skip them both and get a M2 Comp.

Or if you fancy not watching your hard earned vanish a nice 5k used diesel bore fest that you can zero f's about and costs nowt to run.

It doesn't have to be a bore fest for £5k, lots of interesting cars available at that price!

As others have said, I also came to the conclusion that the Trophy is not going to be a great deal better than the 280. I thought the 280 was a good steer but it does not even come close to the CTR.

but still nobody has answered my original question, of when using the config.tool and I select the Recaro option for £1200, why does it ask me for a further £300 for bucket seats? why not just make it a £1500 option for Recaro's

No idea. Does it really matter? Just tick both options?
The seats are definitely worth the £1500 and although you will lose 3 seconds of your life to tick the second box, I’d suggest time well spent.

totally right. does it matter how they total the cost to 1500? it is still 1500 that you have to pay?

although i'm not sure they are worth that, but we all choose how we want to spend money on a car.

depends really, im getting the trophy and only thing i havnt got is recaros and the packs, but the standard seats are still bucket seats. £1500 quid is alot of money for recaros but again depends on the person but to me they aint worth the money, but they do look amazing. Another thing most other countrys have them standard which is annoying.

the biggest issue probably is that the standard seats are NO alcantara. so its 1200 to have them in alcantara...or 1500 to have alcantara recaros. the latter option is probably better vs. standard seats in alcantara....but the truth is that for the cost, standard seats with alcantara should be the base spec.

agree, for the price of the car everything should be alcantara. 30k+ hot hatches are all leather or alcantara i think? i can't think of anything else that is only cloth. i'm sure the very vast majority of cars sold therefore are being forced to at least 1200 quid extra costs.
