Hi Guys,

I'm currently in the Market for a 197 Clio. I have max of £4.5k to spend.

Im currently looking at 2 cars relatively close to my home both of them on 120k mileage, cost isn't near my max but I like them both, both 2007 models in reasonable condition. The mileage doesn't bother me too much (coming from a 130k Audi S3 2009). Or is it worth spending a bit more and getting a lower mileage car?
Is there anything to look out for on these cars, servicing costs etc?
Had a thing for the 197's for a while, so thought I'd give them a go before its too late!

Any help/tips/advice appreciated, I know its quite open ended but anything would be great.

Cheers
Sam

2007MY, so they will be due their 2nd cambelts this year (every 6 years)

all 197's have weak synchros, so make sure box changes cleanly fast and slow with no grinding, usually if not if, but when, when it comes to gearbox issues.
also the downpipe flexis can crack, removal is really a subframe off job so not overly pleasant
brembos need periodic maintenance, seized pad pins are common if they are only ever removed when the pads die, same with most cars with those calipers

other than that they are alright :)

Lower swivel hub ball joints are also very common.

A good buyers guide is available on clio200.net
