Seven events are planned for this year and the UK’s rounds of the new-look Formula Renault Eurocup at the Northamptonshire circuit proved the perfect place to get them under way.
The UK’s R.S. following makes for one of the most enthusiastic motoring communities in the land and owners did not disappoint.
Models to appear on the day included 5 Gordini and GT Turbo, Clio Williams, 172, 182, 200, 220 Trophy and V6, Twingo GT and various Méganes from 230s, 265s and 275 to the latest 280 and 300 Trophy versions.
Owners were able to showcase their line-up of cars in an exclusive Renault Sport arena. Cars were then sent on a specially organised track parade of the full Silverstone Grand Prix circuit which not only added to the spectacle but was reward for the time that owners had taken out to bring along their cars.
Hospitality and expert advice was also offered by the Renault Sport Racing team with a ‘Car of the Day’ competition also being held.
As well, there was the opportunity to experience the new Mégane R.S. 280 and 300 Trophy on track.
A similar event format is in place for the remaining six R.S. Days in 2019 – these will take place at high profile racing circuits in mainland Europe, the next being at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps Belgium on 24 July.
