The outright Champion will receive a cheque to the value of £15,000.
A cheque to the value of £5000 will also go to the winner of the Graduates Cup (for drivers aged under 23 as of 1 April and in their first full season of Clio Cup competition).
News of the prize fund follows confirmation that the Clio Cup will be part of the only form of major motor sport in the UK (British Touring Car Championship) scheduled to receive LIVE season-long coverage on free-to-air television in 2019.
ITV4 and ITV4 HD – available for free in households up and down the land – will show live coverage of all BTCC events.
Each broadcast will include at least one Clio Cup race with the potential for both of the championship’s races to be shown live/’as live’ when they take place on the Sunday of that weekend.
Not even Formula 1 will receive as much live free-to-air TV coverage in the UK. F1’s free-to-air broadcaster, Channel 4, will only show the British Grand Prix live.
Significantly, as part of its place on the BTCC’s calendar of events, the Clio Cup receives some 15 hours of live coverage on ITV4 and ITV4 HD. Adding to the exposure are a further 15 hours of highlights on both the ITV1/ITV1 HD and ITV4/ITV4 HD channels.
