Fresh from his fifth Clio Cup win of 2019 at Knockhill, Young took fourth place finishes in both TCR races he contested at the Barcelona Formula 1 circuit last weekend.

The results marked a significant increase in performance for the Mégane R.S. which is being developed to TCR regulations by Swiss team Vukovic Motorsport. Young’s outing in the car had support from Renault Sport in France.

After his TCR debut, 17-year-old Young reflected: “Despite having no real expectations because it was all new to me, things worked out pretty well. I’m so pleased for everyone involved in making this opportunity a reality and I’ve really enjoyed the experience.”

He added: “I really wasn’t sure what to expect, especially when I’d only tested the car for half a day and had to get to grips with learning the circuit in both wet and dry conditions.

“I was facing some of the best touring car drivers in Europe and didn't know where I would fare. Even small operations were a big change like in the Mégane R.S. I had to get used to having a gear lever, instead of my paddle shifters on the Clio Cup car!”

Young is now back in the UK preparing for this weekend’s penultimate rounds of the Clio Cup season at Silverstone. He will go there lying second in the standings, trailing leader Max Coates by just four points.
