Dorlin looks to continue winning streak after topping Oulton Park test

Championship leader James Dorlin set the pace ahead of Lee Pattison and Daniel Rowbottom in today's official Renault UK Clio Cup test at Oulton Park.

Dorlin was fastest in both sessions: in the morning he was 0.187 of a second faster than Lee Pattison while in the afternoon his advantage over the rest – headed by Paul Rivett – increased further to 0.231s.

However it was Dorlin’s morning session time – one minute, 33.632 seconds – that stood as the best of the day overall. Similarly Pattison’s and Rowbottom’s session one times were good enough for second and third outright.

Rivett’s ‘P2’ time in session two catapulted him to fourth overall ahead of Bradley Burns and Max Coates.

Westbourne Motorsport’s Dorlin, who has won the last four rounds, goes into this weekend's two races holding a slender two-point lead over nearest challenger Coates while Rivett is also close behind in third.

Dorlin said: “It’s a strong start for us – we played around with set-up a bit between the two sessions and that’s given us a good direction to go in for qualifying and race one tomorrow. Obviously the goal is more wins and lots of points.”

Significantly both the Pyro and WDE Motorsport teams, currently fighting for the lead of the Entrants Trophy, ended the day with three drivers each inside the top seven – Pyro with Rowbottom, Burns and Coates and WDE with Pattison, Rivett and, in P7, Dan Zelos.

All three looked strong all day and Pattison’s performance in a car freshly re-shelled after a heavy crash last time out at Thruxton was particularly noteworthy…

Completing the top ten in eighth, ninth and tenth were Westbourne’s James Colburn and two more Pyro drivers, Jack McCarthy and Zak Fulk who were split by just 0.001s.

Michael Epps was Matrix Motorsport’s highest placed driver in P11 while Jade Edwards and Luke Warr placed 14th and 17th for single-car teams MRM and BLG Racing.
