Streather gets all-clear to race after nasty testing crash

Paul Streather will race in this weekend’s Renault UK Clio Cup rounds at Silverstone despite his Finesse Motorsport car suffering heavy damage in a high-speed crash in Friday testing.

Streather will race in a car loaned by the 20Ten Racing team which has been built up overnight by his Finesse mechanics (pictured).

His own car (left) struck the concrete barriers after running straight on at the fast Copse Corner in soaking wet conditions during yesterday’s first free practice session.

Streather suffered a nasty bang to his left foot but, after a further check-up in a nearby hospital, has this morning been given the all-clear to compete by the event’s chief medical officer.

The Hinckley racer, winner of this season’s opening round and currently sixth in the standings, said: “I normally use my left foot to brake – I’ll know the first time I try it in qualifying if I need to revert to using my right foot. It is a bit tender still...”
