Thompson will rejoin the Westbourne Motorsport team with which he contested the season’s opening two events at Brands and Donington Park – he was a contender for podium results at both.
The SDT backed driver from Lutterworth said: “Although we’ve missed most of the rounds this year due to other commitments, these are the last ever races for the UK Clio Cup so I really didn’t want to miss out on such a special event.
“The racing has been exceptional this year and a big talking point for fans and this being the title decider it's a chance to remind people what I’m capable of before we go into the winter break.”
Also racing for Westbourne at Brands’ finale will be joint Team Principal James Colburn who appeared for the squad at Croft in June.
It was on the Brands Hatch GP circuit – being raced on next weekend – that Colburn narrowly missed out on the Clio Cup crown in 2012...
Notably, Colburn’s younger brother Ben achieved a career best result of second place in the Clio Cup’s most recent round at Silverstone as did Westbourne’s other driver Finlay Robinson with a sixth.
Ben is currently sixth in the standings but has closed to within just a point of fifth-placed Ethan Hammerton (Team HARD) and still has a mathematical chance of fourth in the final table.
