The Italian squad has won two of the last four Eurocup Clio titles and is currently on course to add another domestic Clio Cup Italia crown. Puccetti, from Florence, is one of its lead drivers (currently fifth in the Italia standings) while Davis is a former British Superkart champion and set to make his Clio Cup debut at Silverstone.
Rangoni Team Principal Michael Rangoni says his squad is seriously considering a full time entry into the UK Clio Cup in 2016. He commented: “I’m very happy to come to Silverstone. For sure next year we look strongly at the possibility of UK Clio Cup.”
Davis, aged 22, said: “This will only be my third ever car racing event and I’ve only driven the current Clio Cup race car in anger once before – yesterday in a test at Snetterton! On saying that I want to show potential at Silverstone and use it as a springboard for being on the UK Clio Cup grid in 2016.”
Will Fewkes, Renaultsport’s UK Motorsport Championship Manager, added: “We are delighted to welcome Rangoni Corse to the Renault UK Clio Cup grid at Silverstone. Their successes speak for themselves and the fact they are openly looking at being a permanent part of the UK Clio Cup for 2016 endorses the very high regard in which the championship is now held.
“Certainly Rangoni Corse would be an extremely welcome addition to our paddock and also I’m sure to the British Touring Car events at which we race as a whole.”
